Default "...why not" the automotive oddity thread

updated disclaimers:

While I love all of god's engines the same my experience is limited and then limited again to generalized "passenger vehicles". There is a lot of lovely oddity in motor cycles and airplane production.

Not really no considering the huge and nearly countless numbers of bastardized projects dreamed up and variously executed around the world. And even specific to Volvo I've seen a lot of odd things, being a fan Volvo and weird ****, but somehow I never have and never would have guessed I'd stumble on a gull-wing, chopped top Volvo this afternoon.

I couldn't find any link between the two or why it was built outside of "because, f u, that's why". But Gatebil will keep me occupied for a while. Thanks.

There's one for sale near me with 97K for $28,000. I didn't realize they held their value so well.

Yeah, small production numbers and the owners also kind of banded together to way overshoot their asking prices, thus inflating their market value. You could probably buy 2 M3s of the same year for the price of an M Coupe.

It's a great site. It's also almost a cartel, which is the name of this page.

I've been wishing BMW, since they're making 20 different versions of the same car these days anyway, would just do a clown shoe of the current 2 series. We're not going to get the the 4 door hatchback and I'm sure I'm not alone thinking the old 1 and current 2 series coupes are hard to look at.

Aurora - 122C Turbo

GM 4 banger, turbocharged. Obvious inspiration, it's sticking in my head between how angular it is then how round the greenhouse is... and that it looks like a 3rd gen Rx7 back glass.

In other pictures, it looks like it has Nissan Z32 taillights, too. It'd be interesting to see how many parts it borrowed from other production cars.

A chopped and dropped 850 (V70?) is a good start to this thread.
