Still have two episodes to go, my fiance can't watch more than one a night because it's too intense for her . Hope I can finish it up this weekend.

There were plenty of LOL-worthy startled reactions from my gf as we watched.

Just finished it.

No spoilers, but it ends better than your average Stephen King novel

Finished it last night. I thought the ending was good. A little predeictable at some points but overall well done.

Not sure how I feel about a second season. It seems like they certainly set it up for another one but it wouldn't be easy to pull it off. The mystery is gone now and while it was originally the mystery that pulled me and kept me watching it was the characters that kept me going after they revealed what had taken place to start it all.

It felt like a glorified NBC miniseries to me. Wasn't impressed. The kid that plays Lucas is a horrible actor.

The house that no one would be alive to live in? I don't know...seemed like in the moment, caring a damn about the house would be the last thing on their minds.

It was odd to me and wifey that they appeared to save the very thing they were trying to kill.

Just started watching this tonight. Got through the first ep. and I am already hooked. Nostalgia'd hard. It reminded me of riding my bike around with the crappy red flashlight that mounted to the handlebars.

I admit their plan wasn't entirely sound, but they really had barely an idea what they were up against.
That said, I also don't think they were on a suicide mission. The plan was to trap it, incapacitate it, and hopefully kill it.
Bear trap->fire->extinguisher->bullets&bat

Just my interpretation, of course.

One other thing that crossed my mind. The kid that plays Johnathan beyers has that kind of pinched face look that makes him look like he could be part of the King family. I wonder if that was intentional.

I enjoyed the show and just finished after a 6 hour binge. One part I kind of questioned was when she went to the upside down world and was able to read "Castle Byers". I thought she was illiterate since she hardly knew how to speak. The upside down world immediately reminded me of silent hill and the monster reminds me of something from resident evil. I liked how quickly things developed, but at the same time it provided enough details with the backstory.

I think eleven is still alive and she and the monster created enough energy to go back to the other dimension as she killed it.

Also, was that egg the Chief saw in episode 8 in the upside down woods from the current monster or did another monster hatch?

I was thinking Alien when she took that thing from his mouth in the otherworld. Then in E8 you see him in the bathroom coughing and flashback to otherworld. I hope Netflix picks it up for a season 2 as they haven't done it yet.

I understand its original purpose when it was made, because back then it was more about recommending obscure movies on their streaming service, which was only just starting to take off. Now Netflix has (I looked this up) something like 9,000 movies and 1,700 TV shows. So yeah, the Netflix thread is kinda pointless and annoying to look at now.

Plus, it's not like there aren't threads for other Netflix shows here.
This. Here.

It was entertaining. A few flaws and editing mistakes, but a good watch.

Just finished ep8

Love love loved it.

The Dustin kid was excellent comic relief, the girl who played El was fantastic, Ryder was believable, the pacing was great, the story was well told and hit all the right feels.

Good job, good effort Netflix.

Pacing and comedy was excellent. The kids were hilarious. Wife and I were cracking up.

Monster was just terrifying enough without being shoved down your throats all the time. Real, proper Jaws-level stuff... what you don't see is scary.

Netflix is really crushing it.

A lot of yelling. A bit much for me.

The monster was genuinely freaky!

El was really cool. I really felt for her.

I wanted the boyfriend to get killed, but I'm glad he turned around towards the end.

I really, really enjoyed the 80's nostalgia. Good times!

Would watch again.

Yelling? It's a horror(ish) show. People tend to yell a lot when monsters are trying to eat them

The bolded part - that was the most un-stephen king-ish part of the show. Of this had really been a king book, the boyfriend would have tried to turn it around, maybe had a few flashing moments of good guyness, then been triggered and gone on a raping/killing spree and joined forces with the monster.

pretty much all of this! I thought it was a great story that was just different enough from the regular horror flicks to be genuinely entertaining.

I'm sure season 2 will be as good, but I wonder how they'll write it.

Would watch again, would recommend

edit:
only thing I hated was the difference in volume between quite parts an LOUD OMG WE ARE ALL GOING TO DIE parts.... I had to constantly turn up and down the volume toward the end.

True. Stephen King is deliciously jacked up.

And I was referring to just their normal, indoor conversations with no monster around. The kids just yelled at each other constantly. Haha No biggie. Just an observation.
