So I got an email from the Wednesday night league, and I think I'm done with them.

Quote:

1. This Wednesday night, by popular request, we will be doing a "Conceal Night".

2. Shooters can bring their conceal carry firearm and draw from concealment.

3. It is advisable if you are bringing a semiautomatic firearm to bring 3 magazines or revolver speed loaders because the magazines are limited to 6 rounds per magazine. The shot count on each stage is a minimum of 15 shots.

4. Two of the stages are Virginia count and two of the stages are Open/Unlimited Count.

5. If you do not have what would be considered a "conceal carry firearm" because of the firearm frame size, you can still participate on Wednesday. You will just have to be restricted to the 6 rounds per magazine.

6. Firearms do not have to be "Inside the Belt" carry. "Outside The Belt" is best. You will have to just wear a large shirt over your firearm in order to have it considered concealed.
Six rounds per magazine? What kind of horse **** is that? So penalize everyone because some people want to shoot a pocket gun?

I think even when I shot IDPA they allowed semi-autos to at least run 10 rounds in a mag, and I think their limiting factor was more around state/federal magazine capacity limits.

Even IDPA does 8 rounds for their BUG category.

What's more concerning is drawing from concealment. This is going to be unsafe as ****. I went to an "IDPA-like" league once and they allowed people to draw from behind the back. Sweep everyone behind you while you draw...

A lot of these guys are unsafe enough, I'd certainly hope they don't allow any type of carry like that.

Can you guys give me some advice on travelling with multiple firearms? I'll be heading down to the DFW (Texas) area for 5 weeks soon. I'll have a ton of free time on my hands and I know there is a ton of shooting to do in that area. I would like to bring my M&P9, AR9 SBR and 308 bolt action. I have already submitted the required ATF interstate transport form, hoping that I get it back before I leave. If not, then the SBR lower will stay at home. I plan on getting a large Pelican case that can hold everything. I'm not sure if I should ship everything or Carry-on. Ill have 5 weeks worth of baggage coming with me so carrying that as well as a loaded Pelican case would suck. I've been in touch with a dealer down in the are and I asked about having my dealer ship it all for me but that would require a transfer/background check I guess. Since I'm not a TX resident, that wouldn't work. Shipping the case via USPS probably wouldn't be cheap, but regardless if I want to bring it all with me, its going to cost me. I can put the SBR lower in my checked bag and throw everything else in the case but as far as everything else, I'm not really sure where to begin researching.

Carry-on seemed like the go-to but moving around with 5 weeks of baggage does indeed sound sucky. Might suck less than the cost of getting the stuff down there - maybe pre-ship some of your baggage?

I'd have to check regs, but non-licensees can't ship handguns via USPS.

I believe you are correct. I was going to throw my M&P, P938 and my SBR lower in the same locked case of my checked bag. There isn't a limit to the number of guns you can declare is there?

No limit on guns. Checked baggage ammo limit is 11lbs in approved (original box or 100 round ammo boxes, etc) container. My advice. Ship a box of ammo to end destination via UPS/FedEx as ORM-D, and carry on 11lbs. If they confiscate your checked ammo request it be held for your return flight then pick it up.

At check in declare you have firearms to check in a hard sided case, if they ask you are they unloaded state so but don't go waving them around. I try to minimize the time they are visible. MAKE SURE YOUR DECLARATIONS TAG IS VISIBLE on the outside of the case (do two tags if needed. Per the law it should be inside the case with the unloaded firearm). I got yanked under the airport because TSA didn't see a declaration tag on the outside and it wasn't until I showed them it was properly declared with the gun did they relax. They still ended up creating a case file over it. No fun.

For the NFA items I'm no help.

I was going to ship a small amount of ammo separately and just have two boxes of my carry ammo in the locked case. I've flown with my carry gun before and it was the most painless experience I have ever had flying. By that logic, flying with a case full of them should be equivalent to a private jet right? It really is a Tease because I manage two private jets. If I could convince them to fly me down and back, none of this would be an issue whatsoever.

My grand father told me he doesn't want the revolver he got from "old Uncle Jack". If I remember correctly it's a 4" Taurus .357. He told me to come by and pick it up. I'm not a huge fan of revolvers, but the fact that it came from "old Uncle Jack", makes it sentimental. He was one hard dude.

Edit: whats a good price on 9mm these days? Under $0.30/rd good?

9mm can be had for under .20/round now. With the current rebate it's closer to 16-17/round.

There's a $10 mail in rebate going on for most of the major ammo brands and a bunch of other brands as well.

I'll see if anyone I know is interested though. Maybe I should buy one and flip it while they are still at unicorn prices. (just kidding ATF, I know you're reading this)

Exactly right. 90-93% there. It's just that 7-10% is $200 worth of goodies and time (which I'll be doing this weekend)

What's sketchy about it? I've never seen a rebate cover so many brands at once but it's not a scam or anything. I've already submitted 4 rebates on stuff I didn't even know was eligible when I purchased it.

Sportman's Guide currently has a case of S&B 124 gr 9mm on sale for .19/ round shipped. Myself and a few others here prefer S&B for how clean it shoots.

Yeah, my bad I guess. I've seen enough crappy online rebates over the years that something called 'myonlinerebate.com' immediately threw up that internal red flag in my brain. Heh.

However, it looks to be offered via Vista Outdoor (parent company of Federal, CCI, etc.) so it's legit. Carry on.

No, you just need the coupon code. Depending on how much ammo you buy, the membership can pay for itself within the year. Double discounts, free shipping usually, coupons when you renew etc...
