Received from Maryland Handgun Qualification License (required for purchase of a handgun for those that aren't familiar with how it works in Maryland) while I was away on vacation.

Now it's time to go to the range and rent some handguns and see which I like.

Congrats!

Got to shoot my Beretta 92A1 for the first time since I modded it. Double action pull is much improved with the D spring, and the new grips and trigger are big improvements. I can't seem to consistently find a good spot for my left thumb when firing, but otherwise I really like the gun. I may have to apply some grip tape in a few spots and see if something works.

Handled a couple of SP2022s over the weekend, no longer interested in on. Felt a bit top heavy, felt a bit cheap and clunky, and didn't fit my hand quite right.

There's a reason why they call it the poor man's P226.

Got out this morning. Shot pistols with my buddy, and we also did some quail hunting.

My buddy did pretty well. I didn't realize what a pistol newb he was. Got his grip and sight picture sorted out, and he started doing pretty well.

His Sig is pretty nice to shoot. I'm not sure if it was his ammo or the gun, but it was a pretty soft shooter. Decently accurate too.

Last Thursday our local range had a steel speed challenge. A plate rack of 6 plates, 15 yards. 8 rounds per mag, unlimited mag changes. I had never shot steel before, it was seriously addicting. My first run was 12.5 seconds, one reload. I did a second run with a full mag for fun, 14 seconds, no reload. I was trying too hard. I decided to do another run (it was $10 a run) later in the day and ran just under 12 seconds.

If they would have let me, I could sit in that range all day and shoot that plate rack. It's so damn rewarding.

I hate steel. I'd be a richer man had I never shot steel.

Could anyone tell me anything about these? I got them with some old camera gear, and I don't even know what they are in order to try to sell them. I can tell the two are S&W, the third DWA, and don't know anything about the fourth. That's about all I can figure out. Anyone know what size of pistol they are for? Are they worth anything?

The S&W grips look like a L and K frame grip (L is bigger). Not sure on the others?

First one is a Dan Wesson grip? That's all I got.

Aha, starting to get somewhere. I hadn't realized the two S&W grips were for the same gun! They seem like they would be worth throwing up on ebay at least.

Dan Wesson looks right on the other one. Gets me to a good starting point to begin researching. I think that is for the same gun as the other mystery grip.

Thanks guys!

The trick is rhythm/cadence, and also to resist the urge to look at the steel falling over.

I'd give you $40 for the larger S&W. I have a K frame and an N frame so chances are good it'd work for one or the other

He's busy at work, recently got married too, so probably busy getting laid, also he recently moved to a different place.

He seems to be focusing more on car related activities these days than guns because you know... Cali.

Does anyone have extensive experience with the CZ Scorpion?

I'm looking for a new fun gun that the wife can use for HD while I'm on travel. A 223 has too much muzzle blast for her, so I've been looking at PCCs. The only other ones that seem to be relaible enough for LE/military use are the CX4 (I hate the looks of it) and the Sig (heavier than I'd prefer).

Are the CZ Scorpions generally regarded as a reliable and quality firearm?

Without taking a picture of my ass cheek (my hip is rubbed completely raw), I'm too fat to carry my 19 IWB anymore. I need to start losing some weight.

ive looked into them quite a bit. the pistols are pretty awkward to shoot without a "cheek rest". but thy do appear to be reliable. im thinking of selling something and getting one and tossing one of these on it.

The trick is to use your damn sights. 12 seconds? Were you shooting a bolt action rifle?

If I buy one I'll get the carbine with the folding stock. I'd prefer the shorter barrel as well but nof enough to pay for the stamp.

At about 4 o'clock. My muffin top pushes the sweat guard out, so the muzzle end of the holster digs into the point of my hip.
