How was there not a thread on this already? I could only find mention of it in the Breaking Bad thread.

February 8th premiere. That's awesome. I was worried VG was going to take a longer break and make us wait.

IMDB already has a season two listed, AMC must be confident!

I can't see how it could possibly suck.

The characters were already developed, and tested as a hit in BB.

This should be a hit right out of the box since it really isn't going to need that first season for character development, and for the actors to feel out their roles.

We know Mike Ermantrout, and a few others from BB will be in it (I think i read that Badger and Skinny Pete will be in it) so its already a hit in my book.

The failure rate of spin offs of popular TV shows proves that the success of the original means dick for the new show.

I hope it's good but I'm not expecting Breaking Bad 2.0

I honestly had completely forgotten about this until WD last night.

Bob talked about Better Call Saul (among many other things) on the Nerdist podcast. He says its a dark drama with some comedy in, but definitely don't expect Breaking Bad 2.0.

I have low expectations for this.

1. Spinoffs tend to be bad.
2. The advertisements and promotions for the show I've seen cheapens the brand and is make the me tired of it.

Interesting fact about Bob. He created the character Matt Foley, which was the Chris Farley played motivational speaker in the SNL skit "Down by the river."

The characters were good, in the context of BB. I dare you to try and watch the show "Joey."

Don't need character development? If you're gonna have a show based around Saul now, I think it should probably be more than "crappy client of the week."

I'm going to watch this, but I'm going to temper my expectations. This is not a show about a man with nothing to lose who turns to a life of crime. This is a show about a shady ambulance chaser now.

I'm with you about tempering expectations but seeing what he dealt with in bb, I always wondered what other stuff he had seen in the past to prepare him for the bb storyline and what he was dealing with at the same time. I don't feel like we're going to have to deal with many ambulance chasing moments.

I'm cautiously optimistic.

It should be good I think. We get to see how Saul becomes the Saul of BB.

It will probably take a couple seasons for them to catch up in time to where it makes sense to bring him and Bill Burr into the show.

Or, isn't is possible/likely that they haven't actually finished filming the entire first season yet?

Being that it's a prequel to BB, it stands to reason that they will introduce each character at different times.
