Woman arrested in Craigslist ***8216;rape fantasy' plot was framed in a ***8216;diabolical scheme,' DA says

In the often-lewd world of online forums and classified listings, a horrifying phenomenon exists: men who post advertisements for "rape fantasies," soliciting women who are willing to engage in sex resembling rape.

Some of these ads appeared on Craigslist last year, and on a number of occasions, in Southern California. A woman identified as Angela Diaz responded. She sent photos of herself and details about her daily routine, telling some of the men that she wanted them to have "forcible sexual intercourse with her, even if she screamed or resisted."

And the men began showing up at her condo. On one occasion, she called the police to report an attempted rape, and officers arrived to find visible redness on her neck and breasts, her shirt ripped.

She told police she had not, in fact, posted the messages on Craigslist. She told them they were actually posted by someone posing as her, her husband's ex-girlfriend, Michelle Hadley.

Police investigated and decided she was telling the truth. In July, in a story that made national headlines, Hadley was arrested for posing as Diaz on Craigslist in an attempt to get men to attack her. Hadley, of Ontario, Calif., was charged with multiple felonies, including stalking, criminal threats and attempted forcible rape, facing a life sentence in prison if convicted.

But months later, in a bizarre turn in an already bizarre story, authorities discovered the allegations against Hadley were all false. Diaz had made them up in an effort to frame Hadley, they alleged. Hadley was an "innocent victim of a diabolical scheme" meticulously planned and executed by her ex-fiancée's new wife, Diaz, the Orange County District Attorney's Office said Monday.

Prosecutors exonerated Hadley of all charges, and instead charged Diaz with kidnapping, false imprisonment, perjury and other crimes. If convicted, Diaz, 31, of Phoenix faces a maximum sentence of 12 years and eight months in state prison plus 11 years in county jail.

"It's often said that true life is stranger than fiction," District Attorney Tony Rackauckas said in a news conference Monday. "The facts of this case make that statement spot on."

The two women are linked by a man named Ian Diaz, an agent with the U.S. Marshals Service, the Associated Press reported. According to court records, Diaz dated Hadley in Anaheim, Calif., from 2013 to 2015 before marrying Angela Diaz, who is originally from Arizona. Prosecutors said they have no evidence he was involved.

A motive for the alleged scheme was not clear to prosecutors, but Rackauckas speculated it had something to do with a "love triangle" and "wanting to put the dagger into the older relationship," he said.

All of the evidence had originally pointed at Hadley, including threatening emails seemingly sent to Angela Diaz from Hadley's verified address, using language and "religious tones" that mirrored previous emails she had sent to her ex-boyfriend. In the emails, Hadley appeared to threaten Diaz' life and that of her unborn child, sending her links to graphic images of decapitated bodies and aborted fetuses.

Prosecutors say Diaz actually sent the emails to herself, using virtual private networks and third-party servers to make it appear that Hadley had sent them. It took investigators "months of painstaking work to remove the disguise of the IP addresses," Rackauckas said. Authorities ultimately discovered the messages had actually originated from Diaz' condo, her cellphone and her father's home in Arizona.

"That was the real ***8216;aha' moment," said Deputy District Attorney Richard Zimmer.

Along with attempting to frame Hadley, Diaz is accused of faking a pregnancy and cervical cancer, forging doctor's notes, posing as an attorney and as two of her husband's ex-girlfriends, and forging a check.

Zimmer said that while Diaz gave the impression of "an upper-middle-class professional," the investigation revealed her to be "a serial con artist," the Los Angeles Times reported.

"I'm not afraid to say she duped me," Zimmer said. "She duped us. It was very sophisticated, well thought-out."

Diaz was arrested in Phoenix on Friday and is awaiting extradition from Arizona. She faces felony charges including kidnapping; false imprisonment by menace, fraud or deceit; perjury; grand theft; and forgery, and multiple misdemeanor counts of falsely reporting crimes to law enforcement.

Her kidnapping charge was rooted in Diaz' successful attempt to get Hadley arrested and taken to jail, Rackauckas said.

Hadley was first arrested in June 2016 on the day Diaz reported the attempted rape. She posted bail but was arrested again three weeks later after Diaz reported she continued to receive threatening messages, and after a 17-year-old boy arrived at Diaz's home in response to the Craigslist ad.

Hadley spent 88 days in jail, held on $1 million bail. As evidence mounted that she was innocent, she was released in October.

Her lawyer, Michael Guisti, said Michelle Hadley was simply a 29-year-old student pursuing a master's degree in business administration when the accusations were made. To be exonerated by the district attorney was "a huge relief" for her, Guisti said.

During a brief hearing Monday, prosecutors officially dropped the charges against her, and a judge told her she was "free to go."

Hadley cried, smiled and hugged relatives, the Los Angeles Times reported.

"This has been a huge nightmare for me," Hadley told reporters, "probably the most traumatic experience of my life."

Diaz could not be located for comment by the Associated Press.

"I'll have a cone with two scoops OF DEATH!"

Quote:
***8216;Ice cream killer' is so dangerous, she's headed to a men's prison

Watch out, guys!

An Austrian femme fatale known as the "Ice Cream Killer" will have plenty of new men to choose from at her new lockdown.

Estibaliz Carranza, 38, will be transferred to an all-male prison because she's too dangerous to be locked up at a women's facility, but authorities might be playing right into her hands.

The maniacal murderess has a history of luring men into her web and then killing and slicing up their bodies with a chainsaw.

In 2012, she was sentenced to life behind bars for the dismemberment murders of her ex-husband and her onetime lover on separate occasions. She shot them both in the head, carved up their bodies, stored their parts in a freezer and buried their remains under the concrete floor of her sweet shop. She then hung air fresheners to hide the smell of their rotting corpses.

After her conviction, Carranza was incarcerated at a women's prison in Schwarzenau, Lower Austria, but will now be moved to a "special" all-male penitentiary in Asten, Upper Austria, The Mirror reported Monday.

Carranza will be the first female prisoner to be housed at the state-of-the-art facility, which currently holds 91 men. Thirteen additional female inmates will be transferred there in the near future.

The staff consists of 45 nurses, 18 therapists, four doctors and eight prison guards, The Mirror said.

Prisoners can cook meals together in their single and double cells - and freely roam around the grounds. They can also kick back and watch TV in the lounge.

In 2008, Carranza walked up behind her ex-husband, Holger Holz, as he worked at his computer, pressed a .22-caliber Beretta against the back of his head and squeezed the trigger.

She confessed that she was furious when Holz wouldn't leave their Vienna home after their divorce. She also called him "violent and lazy."

The two had originally met when she was an Au Pair in Germany before she became the proprietor of an ice cream shop in Vienna.

Two years later, Carranza whacked her ice cream salesman boyfriend, Manfred Hinterberger, in a similar fashion.

She pumped several bullets into the back of his head when she went to confront him about an alleged affair he was having, but he was passed out drunk.

After disposing of his corpse, she got a manicure to repair her damaged nails.

In June 2011, plumbers stumbled upon the remains of both victims as they were doing work in the cellar of Carranza's ice cream shop.

Carranza went on the lam to Italy, but was captured by authorities several days later.

She was two months pregnant by a third man at the time of her arrest and has since gotten married to him while in prison.

She has written a memoir titled, "My Two Lives: The True Story of the Ice Lady

Man, same thing happened to my buddy.

Actually, over some technicality bull**** he got arrested twice for it. Once by the town, once by the county. I think she ended up pressing charges over the same incident to both.

Yeah...she was uh....special.

****ty story, they got in a heated argument when she told him she was cheating on him. It got a little out of hand and he open palm slapped her once. That was the end of it. She went to work a day or two later and her coworkers convinced her to do that.

What's more annoying is that when she went into press the charges the red mark was long gone. He got arrested anyway. Furthermore, I remember him telling me she had thigh bruising from the other guy plowing her and she was threatening to use that against my buddy.

I'm not an advocate for hitting women, though I think in that scenario she went way overboard. You got slapped once for being an unfaithful whore, I think you got off (no pun intended) pretty easy.

Just a heated argument can land both of them with a dv charge but usually the cops prefer to arrest the more active participant. My story is a bit different but no less infuriating.

We were also having a heated argument regarding her being an unfaithful whore. I was in the kitchen putting away dishes while we argued, she started grabbing plastic cups and bowls and throwing them at me from the opposite side of the dishwasher. After ducking the third or fourth plastic cup I dashed past her out of the kitchen. She didn't stop, picked up a glass tumbler and hucked it right at the oven shattering the front glass. That's when I got the bright idea to call the police. What a mistake. From the moment they arrived I knew I was going to jail. It was four sheriff's deputies; three outside with me and one inside with her. We told our sides of the story, she cried uncontrollably saying I threw the glass and I spent the night in the drunk tank (I wasn't drunk, it's just where everyone goes for an overnight stay). I ended up getting charged and convicted.

Silver lining to the whole horrible ordeal was that instead of fines and jail time I got counseling and probation. The counseling was covered by my insurance and it helped me to face the fact that our relationship was extremely toxic. It was the push I needed to finally leave that crazy bitch.

Downside was having my 2nd amendment rights permanently revoked and a dv charge on my record.

Isn't it a law in some states, that if one of the parties calls the police they both get taken in for DV?

Not sure if it's a law but while I was being questioned the sheriff told me he wanted to arrest us both but decided that because there were children in the house that he was only going to take one of us. But technically yes, regardless of who actually threw the glass we were both admittedly guilty of dv. I viewed it as because I'm a man (and not crying) I'm more guilty.

lol... don't feel sorry, just be wary of them wapces. For every psychotic woman there's a guy just like her and somehow decent people end up in relationships with them. I was never a violent or abusive person until I met my ex-wife. It got pretty bad for a while but like I said, the counseling I received totally opened my eyes to what I had become. I'm sure she abuses the **** out of her current bf and I almost feel bad for him

Um, no. That would be absurd, why send the victim to jail?

Many places have laws where if there's been a DV call then somebody has to go, that must be what you're thinking of.

No, because one of the biggest 'outrages' against it was the thought people in real danger wouldn't call because they didn't want to go to jail, too.

One of the pros was to prevent what happened to the guy above from happening. One of the parties lying, or the woman turning on the waterworks and convincing the cops it was all him.

It might have been something that was in the works to getting passed somewhere, or something, but never made it all the way through. I don't honestly remember where I first heard of it.
