When: August 11th 2007, Noon-8pm
Where: Santa Anita Raceway, Arcadia, CA

Subaru of America Inc. in conjunction with The Monkey's Trunk and NASIOC.COM presents:

DRIVE THE LEGEND

The Drive the Legend event will be the only ride and drive event open to the public for the new 2008 WRX. You've seen the reviews but now this is your chance to make your own choice on the new 2008 WRX by getting behind the wheel on a closed course and be driven by a professional driver on course as well.

There will also be a Subaru only Car Show presented by The Monkey's Trunk/NASIOC.COM. Entry and acceptance into the car show will allow you to arrive and drive the 2008 WRX before the general public and a chance to win great prizes with your "Tuned" Subaru.

UPDATE #1: 7/26/07

There is also a Friday August 10th (7pm-10pm) Drive The Legend pre-meet at Chino Valley Subaru. There will be food, refreshments, prizes there as well as a chance to meet fellow owners and more.

Southern California Subaru owners not participating in the car show will be able to caravan from a handful of local dealerships to the event opening at 11:30am:

UPDATE #2: 7/31/07

Here's the basic list of Car Show classes.
These are all TENTATIVE based on participation in the above classes and are subject to change up untill the day of the show (8/11).
  • General Awards:

    *Best of Show: The Subaru that stands out amongst them all.
    *Best Wild Subaru: The Subaru that's most outlandishly modified.
    *Best Mild Subaru: The Subaru that shows you can modify your car and still drive it daily.
    *Peoples Choice: The Subaru people in the general public liked most.
    *Best use of SPT parts: The Subaru utilizing the most out of the SPT catalog.
    *Best Rally Car: The car that best represents the Rally heritage of Subaru. (The dirtier the better?)
    *Best JDM: The car that represents something you would see on the streets of Japan.
    *STOCK (Subaru That Best representation of an unmodified/stock Subaru, AKA: Still under warranty ).

    Specialized (Model Specific):
    *Best Impreza (93-01): Best modified representation of the original Impreza.
    *Best Impreza WRX Sedan (02-03), (04-05), (06-07): Best modified representation of those years. (3 classes)
    *Best Impreza WRX wagon (02-03), (04-05), (06-07) Best modified representation of those years. (3 classes)
    *Best Impreza WRX STI (04-05), (06-07) Best modified representation of those years. (2 classes)
    *Best Legacy (Pre-04), Baja, Legacy Wagon (all years/types): Best modified representation of those models and years.
    *Best Legacy Sedan (04-08): Best modified representation of those years.
    *Best Forester: Best modified representation.
    *Best Classic Subaru (<1993) Best representation.

Once again these are all TENTATIVE based on participation in the above classes and are subject to change up untill the day of the show (8/11).


UPDATE #3: 8/2/07

Car show participants will get an exclusive goodie bag free with their participation that will contain item/s not available to the general public.

Don't miss out as car show participants will also have a chance to drive/ride in the 2008 WRX more than once (time permitting/limited numbers).


UPDATE #4: Online registration for the car show closes tonight at midnight.

If you haven't registered online by now you will have 2 chances to register in person. The first will be Friday August 10th at Chino Valley Subaru from 7-10pm and again on August 11th during car show roll-in at Santa Anita Raceway from 8am-9:30am. This will be your last chance to show off your Subie and get a great grab bag and possibly win your class.

Once again be sure to register for the car show!!!

Damn! I wish I could go to this!

I'm pleased that more Subaru specific events are occuring, but they all seem to
end up at the opposite side of the country from me and without enough notice.

Also for those wondering why 25yrs old for the Drive portion is due to the event Insurance policy which is beyond anyones control.
