Positive development at work…management had in office meetings earlier this week and one person in the meeting tested positive for covid. Latest word is WFH for the foreseeable future again

silo'ing isn't always bad... i've seen places where it's just fine, as long as the escalation points are there.

i've seen others where i'm trying to do something on a SCADA network with 18 people on the call and two days later i hear back from the security team...

on a flip note... anyone have an office chair that doesn't sit sky high on it's lowest level?

i've been rocking a $29.99 target special that i bought circa '96. it's beat to ****. didn't measure the seat height and bought a Flintan from ikea on a whim tonight, built it and now i feel like i'm driving a school bus...

the flintan has a low of 17 3/4" and eyeballing the difference between old and new it looks to be about three inches...

anyone else have people "fall" into their chair when they sit down? yeah, i'm that *******... i'm looking to spend ~$150ish?

ib4 OT don't homework.

you buying?

but... but... my $30 chair has lasted me twenty five'ish years...

i'll have to post pics of the poor old thing. you ever see that dead racoon in the middle of the highway after twenty five or so hits? yeah...

so i got pissed and couldn't deal anymore... pulled the new chair back to the living room, grabbed the target "special" chair, and went about resetting the height on my main monitor.

CRASH!

luckily i caught it before things went ass over tea kettle and stuff got broke, much less it knocked over my drink.

my ~$200 corner target desk has not faired as well as my chair... tomorrow will be the day i will never have to deal w/ that POS again...

I work in a corporate office for a hospital, those of us that are vaccinated, we had the option to get stickers on our badges saying we're vaccinated and we can choose to not wear a masks.

When I go in tomorrow, I will be wearing my mask again, thanks delta

That's the way it is in our office. If you're not in your cube or the cafeteria (eating), you have to wear a mask. I wonder how unvaccinated people are going to feel when it's a office mandate (Goog, FB, St. Jude and other hospitals, Delta Airlines ...)?

My company will basically buy pretty much whatever for ergonomics and such. People were trying to get ergo furniture for home when we were sent home last year.

Stupid managers are stupid. They can enjoy doing the work (in their office) themselves.
It's funny how pre-pandemic, getting 2 WFH days a week was a rare perk. Now even Apple employees are threatening resignation for a 2-WFH-day week. Times are a changing.

My sis was anti-WFH when Covid hit. She doesn't know how I can stay disciplined in a full-WFH job for so many years, and she couldn't see herself doing it. She thinks I just slack off and play video games all day (I do... for an hour during my break.) Now that her office is calling them back to a 2-WFH-day/week schedule, she's threatening to resign.

I think part of her sudden change in outlook was because of the dog her son recently adopted. Having that dog around while she WFHs gives her much-needed stress relief that she would never get in the office.

On the topic of cheap office chairs, I've been using a Staples Hyken chair for almost a year now and it's been great for the price. It goes on sale quite often and it does the job. Obviously it's no Aeron, it's much cheaper and pretty comfy.

after a couple of "minutes" of digging around for a new chair w/ a low seat height...

jung, the you posted up is ~17.25 not bad... i dug through about thirty different chairs and the vast majority of them sat at ~18 inches minimum.

found another winner at target, i think though.

since i got ~25 years out of my $30 target chair, will i get ~40 out of this one?

OK, dumb question. Why do you need a chair that low? Is your desk really low?

No judgment here. Just couldn't come up with any other rational explanation.

my desk top sits at about thirty inches, which is normal. i just prefer to sit low, plus some times i'll cross one of my legs under my other knee and my feet don't "dangle".

also, makes it easier to suck all that office ****.

Crossing legs make sense. I guess I'm too used to adjustable height desks at the office.
