: unamused:

Tonight was one of those nights. I'll start with a waring to those attempting to install anything in the rear gallery plug of a 2008+ DON'T! There simply isn't any room any more. They have installed something right on top of it that prevents you from access. You will be able to get the plug out but you won't be able to get any other type of plug in there. A crows foot won't even be able to get in there.

I spent all night trying to fish stuff out from what ever it is they have right on top of this location. After 2+ hours of the most painful open car surgery I was able to recover my gallery plug.

I also have a question. For those that have installed their sender in the front gallery plug does your oil light simply stay on? I assume you have to unplug the stock one causing it to read 0 PSI. Is there anyway around this?

I'll update this with pictures tomorrow.

Pic of location and devil hole of hell.

I just got my rebuilt NA engine running, but I had bought a Defi racer series white led oil pressure gauge.

What I did was take out the original plug and oem pressure sensor and moved it to a plug on the drivers side case halve right in front of the water cross over pipe. I then put the new plug and sensor where the OEM one was right under the alternator. So, when I start my car the light goes out like really fast and I have the light and my gauge because I wanted it like that

I would put the sensor under the alternator. If you wanted to keep the OEM pressure sensor then find another plug that might work and extend the wire if need be. I am not familiar with the turbo blocks that well so not sure what other plug might work.

The front of the block is the best spot to install the pressure sensor anyway. I didn't even waste my time trying the rear, but I know how much it would suck

Yep, install it in the front plug (where the OEM one normally is). Leave the wiring for the OEM one unplugged. You will not get a light on the dash. Just watch your oil pressure on the gauge.

put mine under the alternator and unplugged the original sensor. No problems or CEL's at all.

Do you have an 08+? I swear this would be impossible.

So if you simply unplug the stock sensor you dont get a light? Would there be any chance for warranty denial if something did fail?

No light if you unplug the sensor.

I think most people use a relocation kit if they really want to use that rear galley.

No I do not have an 08+, but my application is much diffrent. I am reversed intake manifold, no EVAP whatsoever, FMIC and rotated turbo so to answer your question again no I do not have an 08+, but with enought finagling you can get it in there.

Like Ben said, no light. That stock sensor is a piece of **** anyway... it comes on once your motor is past the point of no return

I was able to get mine installed on the plug that is near the throttle body, under the coolant hose (that takes coolant to the throttle body). It is certainly a tight fit but do-able.

Do you have any pictures of this location? Were you forced to remove a ton of stuff?

It will also depend what gauge you have. Some of the senders are much smaller than others.

Update. Installed the sender in the front plug. Only took like 30min and I didn't even have to remove the alternator. I just used a crows foot and extensions.
I won't be reinstalling the stock one.

I spent a good four hours with the rear Gally plug cursing up a storm but I got it in! I tightened it as much as I could and no leaks but I think my sensor is bad .

There are a few things you can remove to give you slightly more room. I pushed hoses away and zip tied them so it gave us more space.

I used a crows foot on my sensor to spin the Gally plug down then I was able to use a opened ended wrench to tighten up the galley plug.

On 2011 plus I wouldn't recommend to use this galley plug but its possible

The galley plug/cap to start was an 8mm Allen easy enough to remove.

I would never have considered the rear plug but I was doing an AOS and inlet installation anyway. With all the shize removed it was cake. Just for future reference

Not to revive an old thread here, but my understanding after reading is to:

Just use the front plug
The oem sensor can remain unplugged and there is NO oil light on the dash? How can that be? Seems to good to be true lol.

The OEM switch is normally open. So if you remove it, the light will not stay on.

It will illuminate at initialization when all the gauges are going through startup test/swing, but will turn off after that.

Thanks Killer!! I appreciate you. Has that oem idiot light ever came on in time to actually help anyone? Haha I’ve never heard any positive remarks on it.
