Is this correct AN hose end ?
I couldn't decide which section to post this question. I thought custom fab would be the place.
Anyways. I bought these 12 AN straight hose ends. I am planning to use them for stainles steel rubber lines for aftermarket oil cooler. I am not experienced with AN fittings but these fittings don't look like it will seal a rubber ss hose. Looks more like it needs a compression ring and PTFE line Some help would be appreciated. Thanks.

As long as you buy the right hose, that looks like it will work. You slip that red collar over the hose, then spray some WD40 or something in the tip of the hose and on the other part that is protruding out. You then ram and jam and push it into the hose. You should be able to get a few turns by hand before needing your wrench to tighten it up.
As for the looks, think of your fuel lines held on by a hose clamp. The fuel goes where it needs to not by the clamp. This is a LOT tighter seal than a hose clamp, and for a oil cooler there is very little pressure. Sometimes they will work, but different manufacturers have different ID / OD on their lines even though they might still be a "12AN" So I try to buy the same brand stuff so that if you need to make changes for spare parts it will work. |

Yes, this is the proper fitting for a -12AN (3/4") braided line. The "dash number" of -AN lines and fittings refers to the number of 1/16th's. -12AN is 12/16" or 3/4". -8AN is 8/16" or 1/2" and so forth.
Don't worry about mixing brands. If the line and fitting are the same "AN" number, it should work fine. |

Thanks for the helpful responses, appreciated.
I am pretty sure these fittings are made for -12 AN but what i cannot be sure is if it is for rubber stainless steel or ptfe stainless steel line. Because they use different fitting. This fitting is for ptfe hose which uses a compression ring (ferrule) to seal and looks like the fitting I have. And this is what I think it should look for rubber stainless steel hose. |

The type you have is for a rubber hose.
Most of the companies use the same type of connector for teflon hoses (i.e. the Ferule type) wheras in rubber hose connectors there seems a 2 way split, some (like EARL's) use the type you have now, others use the one you posted in the last picture (Goodridge for their 200 series hoses, to name but one) |
