Car passed inspection less than a month ago. While driving to work 3 days ago, about 20 minutes in the CEL, traction control/abs light came on solid with blinking cruise control. Checked gas cap, topped off oil and coolant. Still on. Codes are P0420, C0054 and C0057. 09 Impreza just over 140k miles on dash. Also, interestingly, the computer reads out 84113 miles. Bought it 3+ years ago used with 103k miles, head gasket replaced and upgraded. It has run flawlessly over last 37k miles until this. Any thoughts?

P0420: Catalyst efficiency below threshold - either your catalytic converter is bad, you have an exhaust leak before the catalyst, or you have a problem with your A/F sensor (front O2) or your oxygen sensor (rear O2).
Definitive diagnostic includes physical inspection and recording, then comparing data from the two sensors under a specific set of driving conditions. Basically when you drive at a steady speed and the Oxygen sensor response is very jumpy and mirrors the A/F sensor response when graphed together you have a bad catalyst.

C0054: misadjusted or failed brake light switch. This is an easy fix, either adjust or replace the brake light switch. Was a real common problem on certain models/years.
There was a recall on certain models/years for bad brake light switches. You did not provide that information (fill out your profile or provide that information every time you post). Here is a link to the bulletin so you can check.

C0057: VDC (ABS system) disable due to fault or at request of ECM. This code is caused by either of the two faults above and will probably clear once the two faults above are resolved.
BTW: P0420 and C0054 are not related - you just got lucky.
