Boston Area Brake Resurfacing?
Anyone know a good Boston area brake shop that still resurfaces brake rotors?
I don't want to hear the blah blah about "why resurface when you can replace..." Well, because it's a free country and cause OEM **** is better than aftermarket in terms of build quality. I know this is a dying trend, called 10+ shops and only Firestone and Monroe seem to still do it (what ever happened to O'Riley's doing brakes/drums?). Best price I got so far is $75 for a pair, already off the car. Seems real pricey for me. I know down South you can get $10/rotor. Anyone know anything?

Update:
Firestones around here quoted me at $75/2 rotors (loose). Monro Auto at $40 a rotor. GEM Auto (Parts Supplier) in Dorchester told me they could do $20 a rotor (and the guy was nice about it too!) Most places when I called and asked about this told me this is "old tech," argued with me (what ever happened to the customer is always right?), or just told me politely no. Just in-case someone else is looking to ask around. Now you know what to expect. |

Pepboys might too.
Machine shops would do this too. |

NAPA in Westboro was $25 each, last time I checked. As I can get them for $10 each and about $3 shipping from Rock Auto, they go into my steel scrap heap.
