As much as I love Howard, I will not be getting Sirius...I only listen at work, and when he goes to Sirius I do not think he realizes how much of his listening audience he is going to lose...I am going to be stuck listening to the local morning shows and it is going to suck worse then KC in a Russian bath house...

zman: i disagree. I think he does know how many listeners he'll be loosing. He's said in the past he has more new york listeners than the total number of sirius subscribers.
I wasn't going to get it either since i only get an hour of his show everyday. So I didn't think it was worth the $. Well, the wifey bought me it for xmas and now i listen to sirius all day at work (streaming audio for teh win). I haven't listened to a CD or local radio (except Stern) since December and i don't miss it at all.

I think Sirius and XM are very cool, I'm just saying that I will not be able to listen to Howard once he goes over to Sirius because it will now be un-censored and I can't listen to that stuff at work...I get bitched at just listening to him as it is...today my boss walked in during the middle of the puking scene...I had no idea what to say...

I hear ya. I'm just lucky enough to have my own office so i can play what i want.
cool tidbit: he might setup a few different feeds on Sirius so the show will start at the correct local time across the country. plus, if you wake up late on the east coast, you can tune to the west coast feed and hear the compelte show.

i don't see myself getting xm or sirius... i didn't get xm for o&a and i probably wont get sirius for stern.

i couldn't listen to stuff not censored at work either and im never home when they're on so that's that. sucks but true.

lucky people will have to tell me what it's like on stern's first day of freedom.

i am just worried about what the hell is going to keep my amused in the morning... i hate the corny pop music morning ****.

I have heard that song many times over the last few days and I never could figure out the first line. I hear "this is Beatle, he's as bad as can" too. Even listening to howard or the other callers trying to sing it sounds like that. It should be bad ass cat, but beatle probably sang it the other way, just because he is Beatle Juice. That's what makes it really funny.

I dunno about any of the other Greg & Tony Show (The Jim Norton & Friends show for you n00bs) fans, but every time I hear Stern, or anybody that says I did xxxx first, the first thing that jumps into my head is "Tell em, Fred!"

Oh, & Swivel...Your extremely low member number precludes me from N00b bashing....and since you are obviously smart (evidenced by your low member #) I can only hope you are kidding. BUT:

I like him. I think he's going to be insane on Sirius. I'm almost temped to get it, but I'm hoping it'll be broadcast on the interweb, I don't want to install sirius on all the cars.

Sirius has a live webfeed of all or almost all of their channels. I think you can buy it solo, or it comes free or as a cheap add on to a regular Sirius subscription (that you would have to install in your car or home unit.)
I just think Stern is too old to really make a comeback to his heyday of the late 80s early 90s.
I might be wrong.
But if he stinks and no one subscribes, he may take Sirius down the tube with him, considering the money he's getting. They are not doing that well.
I am an XM nut, but I want Sirius around. XM is ahead tech-wise, and needs Sirius breathing down their neck to make them keep pushing for better equip. and to keep the pricing down.
I think, on the whole, Sirius has better music programming than XM. But XM has O&A, better comedy channels, and good enough music. That, and the fact that I already own equipment and paid a yr up front for a lower monthly rate, keeps me with XM.

But, as far as Stern going 'insane', I don't know what he'll do that is that much more risky.
O&A, other than talking about subject matter that wouldn't make it on air, don't get that crazy. They do say swear words alot...they'll say azzhole instead of balloon knot, etc, and make really offensive/racist/sexist/off color jokes or remarks to get a laugh...but other than that, not that 'crazy'. And when Stern and O&A were both on NY/Syndicated radio, I would say that O&A pushed the envelope more.

Stern will be better than he is now, but I don't know if he will pull Sirius out of the huge hole they are in financially.

I can't stand Artie but I like the rest of the cast.

I wouldn't say XM is farther ahead than Sirius from a business standpoint, XM is going to have to gradually replace all their satellites in the next few years.

I am a big stern fan....been listening since '89. I don't know if I will be getting Sirius or not. I don't really like the idea of paying for radio.

you have cable or satellite TV, right? your parents said the same thing "I'm not paying for TV".

IMHO: 120+ commercial-free channels kicks the crap out of free (with commercials) radio...

Yea, I hope so.

Also, to all the Stern listeners that dont plan on going Sirius, will you just find a new station, or turn off the radio?
