245/45R16 Victos on 16x7 Rota Slipstreams?
Will this work? It'd be a nice lightweight racing setup!!

I don't see why not, you'd only a half inch under the min recommended rim width. Although, I would suggest the 16x8" volk gram light, contact Nino's Auto, he's offered them fairly cheap before. Or you could get the es-tarmac's like I have......17x9"...yum.

That's a lot of tire for a 7" wide wheel. I would strongly suggest you don't do this.

I would hate to be the person to has to mount a 245/45-16 R-Compound tire on a 7" wheel because even with all of the modern equipment it won't be anywhere close to easy or reasonable .... I doubt many people could even get them on the wheel

It will work. Years ago when the Ford Probe GT was a hot car in GS, everyone was running 245/45/16 BF Goodrich R1 on 16x7" OEM wheels. This will not be easy to do for the tire shop, but if you ask for the best tech, he will get it done.

It wont work.
I have 225/50/16's on Rota Slipstreams and I think its a tad too big. 245/45's would be impossible. Here are some pics if you dont believe me: http://community.webshots.com/album/70429949mJoXEZ |

Well, I'm definitely not worried about 225s, because I'm running Kumho MX's on stock wheels right now for my racing tires....but i'd like to have a bit more rubber...

Noooooooooo, why does Kosei discriminate Subies. I was thinking of 17x7.5 Koseis painted gold, but I guess that's not possible without spacers, ugh.

Errr you wouldn't want spacers, those wheels would already stick out with the low offsets. I run 245/45/16 V700s but on 16x8 wheels. The tires look big for those rims, I can't imagine running them on a 7" wide rim.

DWX I would like to see your wheels. What kind are they and what offset are you running, and how bad is your rubbing?

How about the 16x8.5 with 37 offset? Is it true that as the wheel gets wider you can lower the offset? I thought I read that somewhere on here. Also, whats the price on the k1's? Anyways, are there any other options for me to run a 245? Any other wheels available that won't break the bank, and aren't 50 million pounds heavier than stock? |

They are 16x8 Volk Gram Lights from Nino. They are 45 offset which is what you would want on a wheel of that width on a Subaru. Right now I'm using STI-RA takeoff struts/springs and I have no rubbing anywhere. I also have used DMS50s with them, and those required using a 5mm spacer on all 4 corners to combat rubbing on the lower spring perch. 225 tires on 17x7.5 +48 Rota Attacks also rub on the DMS50s, but I only have to use a 2mm spacer. |

those sound like a good option, dwx. I'm also looking at the 5Zigen FN01R-C, 17x8, 5x100, +48, 16lbs, which should easily be able to fit 245/45/zr17, or i may try to squeeze 255/40zr17s on there....not to mention they are only 180/wheel...which isn't all that bad....any suggestions?

245 on 16x7 just fine
---
I would hate to be the person to has to mount a 245/45-16 R-Compound tire on a 7" wheel because even with all of the modern equipment it won't be anywhere close to easy or reasonable .... I doubt many people could even get them on the wheel --- They fit just fine. I've run 245/45-16 Kumho Victo 700 on the front of my '99 2.5RS for a couple years for autocross use. They mounted quite easily at the local Big O tire store. Kumho also had no trouble switching them around at various ProSolos and nationals last year. Here is a pic of them mounted on car: and It is fairly standard practice to mount wide R compound tires on narrow wheels for stock autocross. People have regularly mounted 225/45-15 Hoosiers on stock 15x6 Integra Type R wheels, and the top 1st gen CRX guys are running 225/45-13 Hoosiers on 13x5 wheels. The 245 on 16x7 wheels is fairly tame. Chris H. |
