Default Walmart Grocery Account Hacked

Today I got an e-mail saying that my WalMart grocery order was scheduled for pickup.

I didn't order anything from WalMart Grocery. I look at the e-mail and it's at a store in SC (I'm in NY.)

I immediately logged into WalMart grocery and cancelled the order. I told Wally World about it and they closed my account.

I then had my email inbox flooded with a ****load of spam emails.

Other people have had this happen before:

https://www.reddit.com/r/walmart/com...ot_subscribed/

I reported everything to the IC3.

Anyone else ever have something like this happen?

I had 5 walmart grocery charges on my debit card Xmas Eve ranging from 80 to 250 each. I've never used walmart grocery. The charges were made in AR. There was another random charge at a Papa John's for almost 100, in Baton Rouge. Someone had a nice Christmas I guess.

I live in CA...

I stopped at a gas station on the way home from work the day before and had a strange experience with the card reader at the pump. Didn't think anything of it until afterwards. I'm gonna start paying more attention at the pump from now on.

We should resurrect the "What do you think *the otter* is doing right now?" threads.

Living on an Army base in SoCal my card got skimmed at the base gas station. Found out because someone used my card to order a $650 wakeboard rack for their truck, in Mississippi.

I only use gas pumps with contactless options (google/apple pay).

it doesn't absolve any possibility of my CC info being stolen, it looks like there's ways to skim info from an NFC transaction, but it reduces the possibility because the hack is a bit more sophisticated than just skimming the swipe.

Google pay contactless is the way to go. The best feature is you get an alert immediately when it is used.

Some banks like Chase will give you options to have alerts for every transaction.

Someday we will hopefully implement PKI for everyone. That will solve all these BS problems if we authenticate the person for every transaction.

My parents love that walmart order/pickup. Turns a 1 hour shopping task into a 5 minute show your id and load the trunk.

After a two day wait for a pickup slot (at least around here).

If my Walmart account is ever hacked, it will be because someone else created on eBay in my name.

Hmmmm......the only thing I use Wal Mart for is to drop off used oil. Put the jugs in a cart, wheel it in somewhere near the returns counter, walk out.

when it became frowned upon to dump oil in the storm sewers, that's when I started tossing it in the convenience store dumpster.
