Default Who ends their drought?! NHL Hockey 19-20

Now that the Blues are cup champs for the first time in their 52 year history, who has the best shot to break their drought this coming season!?

Awards are Wednesday night, Draft is Friday.

Any predictions?

I'll post some of the better pics of the parade, it was an amazing time. Absolutely unreal.

It probably won't be the CBJ, but I'll be watching anyhow. And I definitely don't have to worry about their draft this year, as they basically have 0 picks.

Even though I'm a bit disappointed with losing Panarin and Bob (whenever the heck they officially leave), the less Russian drama queens on the team, the better

I'm not entirely sure who's gonna be scoring the goals for the '19-'20 season...that's got me a little concerned

edit - congrats to Not-Boston for winning the Cup

The Anaheim Ducks are expected to announce Dallas Eakins as new coach today, and thus the "rebuild we're not going to call a rebuild" begins. Too late, but oh well.

Bring on Hughes vs Kakko.

Who do you think gets moved from Ana, has to be Perry. They wanna shed space. They are going to ruin Gibson aren't they.

Perry is expected to be bought out, question is if anyone wants to pick him up post-buyout. Perry still has a NTC, and as far as I know, that doesn't go away if they got bought out.

Similar to the Phaneuf situation, except Kings have already bought him out. Ottawa and LA will both be paying Phaneuf not to play. I don't know how Toronto got out of this with no salary retained. Absolute magic from Lou.

Kesler will be out all year on LTIR while recovering from another major hip reconstructive surgery. He might be done-done though.

Patrick Eaves is perhaps the stupidest signing the Ducks have ever done.

In other major league news, San Jose Sharks are expected to announce that they've re-signed Erik Karlsson. 8 years, $11M+. How they manage the cap going forward is going to be interesting. Expect a few of the mid-tier Sharks players to go bye bye now.

The Flyers signed Kevin Hayes to a 7 year $50MM contract.

Glad that the Caps got theirs because the next few years are going to be tough salary-wise and a complete rebuild will happen soon. Both Backstrom and Holtby will be UFA after next year and Ovi the year after that. If they don't win it again next year they won't for a long time.

Getting rid of Niskanen's contract was a freaking coup.

I feel like I'm the only one okay with the Blues cap position.
Thorburn
Maroon
Barbashev RFA
Fabbri RFA
Sanford RFA
Sundqvist RFA
Blais RFA
Del Zotto
Edmundson RFA
Gunnarsson
Binnington RFA

That's it and almost 19m in cap space.

Some won't be back, but that's the nature of the game. Can't see Del Zotto, Gunnarsson, or Thorburn back for sure. The rest I'd like to have back.

I liked Niskanen, but that contract was going to kill them. Clearing over 5mil in space and getting the Flyers to retain some of Gudas' $$ was a good move for the Caps and Gudas will be on the 3rd pairing in DC, which should work ok. I like that they resigned Haglin for a reasonable amount too.

Yeah, crazy good move for the Caps. I like Niskanen a lot. But that's a lot of dough for him.
