You have to act fast if you want to take advantage of the offer, and be ready to subscribe for three full years of the new service. In a nutshell, Disney extended the Disney+ offer that was exclusive to D23 Expo attendees to anyone with a D23 membership.

You have until September 2nd to get your D23 subscription, and the best part about it is that even free D23 subscriptions are good enough to let you take advantage of this special Disney+ deal. The free D23 plan gets you access to exclusive content on the site and special promos. The $99 Gold membership comes with a quarterly magazine, a membership certificate, and special events every year, including access to D23 Expo — the price goes up to $130 if you want to add three family members to it. Forget the paid options though, because the free plan will suffice.

Once that’s done, you’ll be able to subscribe to three years of Disney+ at a 33% discount, which amounts to savings of $23 per year. You’re basically getting a free year of Disney+ with the help of the offer, and that sure sounds like a sweet deal. Or, to put it differently, the price drops to around $3.92 per month, which is an incredible price for a subscription service that will be loaded with content.

The offer is only valid from August 26th through September 2nd. That means you have to decide fast if you want cheap access to Disney+ for the next three years and be ready to pay $140 to get the offer. Disney’s discount page notes that it may take up to 36 hours for the offer link to appear in your D23 account page, so don’t panic if you don’t see it right away.

I'm ready to drop Netflix for D+, but not ready to commit to 3 years before release.

That's just not enough money to consider.

That's a great price and since most of the shows won't be coming out for 2 years it would be nice to have the price locked in. I may go in with a coworker so we can split it. You get up to 4 streams per account so that would be enough for us. At $70 for 3 years that's a no brainer.

Yeah, I'm not committing for three years. This is not a service I see myself subscribing to long term, especially at launch. D+ will be a bit like HBO. I'll pay for it when there's something I want to watch.

But you could save enough annually to buy four coffees.

FOUR!

Having an almost 3 year old and an 8 year old? I cannot refresh fast enough to get that discounted rate locked in. If only the website wasn't a trash panda right now.

Indeedly.

I'm getting this, so I may as well get 4 coffees for free.

I planned on getting it exclusively for my five year old, and that was before all the badass Star Wars and Marvel stuff was announced.

I need to crunch the numbers on this discounted 3-year Disney+ deal versus the $14.99/month Disney+/ESPN+/Hulu ad-supported version bundle that was previously announced.

So far, Hulu is the only paid streaming service that I think is worth it. Full catalogs of good TV shows, what a novel concept! Reminds me of how Netflix used to be.

Right now all I pay for is $50/month for a grandfathered DirecTV Now/AT&T Now account that includes HBO and $1/month for Hulu.

Just got through on the site and redeemed the offer. East coasters going to sleep must be lightening the server load

For those of us hoping for adult series like the next version of Jesica Jones, Punisher or FXX content (where does Legion end up?), ain't gonna find it on Disney +.

Quote:
Specifically, Disney+ will not feature any R-rated content. Everything available on Disney+ will either be rated PG-13 or below. Put simply, Disney+ is positioning itself as a family-friendly streaming service that won't really demand much oversight, if any at all, from parents.

While this may seem obvious, remember that Disney owns 21st Century Fox which has its own impressive catalog of content, some of which is certainly aimed at more mature audiences.

Vespe subsequently noted that Fox's more adult-oriented fare will likely end up on Hulu, also owned by Disney.

I made a D23 account for myself, but it said up to 36 hours to get the invite. Logged into my wife's Disney account and she was already a D23 member. It takes you to this site:
https://founders.disneyplus.com/

There's a unique code in the offer email or on the D23 View Account page that you plug in (or is embedded in the URL). I just signed up using my wife's account but pointed it to my email address.

Will not do the 3 year deal. Not sure how much I'll use it until it comes out.
That being said- reports are saying that Disney will not release R rated content
Fox's more adult-oriented fare will likely end up on Hulu, also owned by Disney.

It took about as long as I figured to be able to multi-quote this

Signed up for the deal. Showed up in my free D23 account this morning. Probably around 12 hours after I made the account.

Never had a desire to watch ESPN+ and I already have YTTV.

And Hulu is going to get the wild cards TV show. That's some super-R rated content right there.

I'm not a Disney fanboy, but I will lock in the longest most inclusive package I can get because I see what is coming and I know they are going to jack up their prices.

I am a Disney fanboy, and I'm not frothy quite yet. Perhaps it's because the Marvel stuff doesn't quite give me the boner it gives many others.

My wife really likes Tom Hiddleston, so the Loki show will be a must have, unless they replace him. The only future marvel that looks interesting to me right now is dr strange.
