The only way to get sponsored is to prove to the company that you have legitimate means of representing them. For instance, you must have a history of competition. They like exposure by a high profile person. Someone or a group that can bring them business. My experience is to first find out if the targeted business or persons or even interested in sponsorship.
When you pass this hurdle, you must convince them why they should sponsor you. And give them a plan how you will represent them. Here are the steps: 1. Find out if they sponsor anyone. 2. Prepare a proposal(most companies will send you an outline or application to complete), your competition history, plans for the future, major events to be attended, media you plan to be in, etc. 3. Call the company(or representative) and basically give them a basic idea of who you are. They won't sponsor just anyone. If approved, you must keep the lines of communication open. Let them know everything you plan to do, and you must wear their logo or whatever type of advertisement on your vehicle during competition. Most will have requirements for you to follow as far as size of their logos and emblem placed on certain locations on your vehicle. I have done this to acquire sponsors such as Subaru, Falken Tire, and Royal Purple corp for Texas Subaru Motorsports. Benefits: Well, this depends on the company or business. Most will give substantial discounts. Some will give you some of their products to try on the public. And some will give a monetary donation. So on and so forth. It's hard work to acquire a sponsor, it's not easy. Good luck! Forrest Owner-Texas Subaru Motorsports |
