Good! It's important to see the positives too, even though that's not always easy...or possible. We've lost our minds more than once thinking "well, [this] or [that] will never get better." But, of course, it does. Maybe not 100%, but better.

Man, there's such a stigma with formula. They've read that breastfeeding is the best way to nourish your child and seem to feel that formula is only for lazy/broken moms.

I ran into that exact same **** with my wife when she was breast feeding. She wouldn't do midnight feedings but they'd still wake up and need t be comforted. My mom suggested supplementing with formula before bed and my wife was just absolutely against it. She didn't get consistent good nights sleep for over a year after our second kid was born.

I don't know what to tell you though. I bet if you do convince her to try formula, she'll abandon it at the very first hint that it isn't working. Maybe not. We tried it for like a day

Understood/ understandable.
I go with the flow, though.
So if she complains, I can just say "We are doing it the way you'd prefer"

And I disagree with the broken/lazy moms. Some can't produce. Some don't want to ruin their titties.
I'm all for whichever way works for whomever.
The only reading I did was what was actually the difference between the two.
They're fairly similar except the immunities in breast milk and a slight chance of a 8-10 higher IQ value.
(Do I care? No.) Do I want the child to be healthy? Absa ****ing lutely haha.

It's not even just reading it -- it's hearing it directly from family, friends, and even doctors. It's ridiculous.

While looking for something else, I found this and thought I'd call myself out on my own bullshit. I think we need more of that in this thread.

My kid won't have a choice -- I'm not making chicken fingers for him every night like some parents do.
Well, maybe bullshit is too harsh; maybe naivete is more fair, but regardless...

1) It wasn't brief. It's continued, unwavering, to this day.

2) It's not chicken fingers because he won't even eat those. That's right -- THE staple kid food is utterly disgusting to him, along with hot dogs, burgers, and 90% of french fries. Instead of chicken fingers it's grilled cheese every night, which is ok because he doesn't drink milk and needs calcium from some****ingwhere.

The only saving grace is that, by and large, the limited things he DOES eat are almost all very healthy. Beans, whole wheat pasta, fruit, eggs, and steamed veggies. He's also a giant kid (see previous page) so it's not like his growth has been stunted, though I can't imagine what a monster he'd be if he ate normally.

EDIT: Oh, there has been a verrrrrry dim light at the end of the tunnel. I make outrageously good food [/boastfulbrag] and in the past few months, for literally THE first time ever, he'll occasionally ask a) what are you cooking? and b) oh that smells good. You have no idea how nice it felt to hear those things from him for the first time in 7 years.

This is encouraging to hear, because my son's pickiness (at 4.5 years old) is much like yours. My wife is a fantastic cook, and at many a dinner time, she'll put plates on the table, and my son will immediately say "I don't want that", even if it's stuff he's eaten in the past. Then it's 45-60 minutes to get him to finish his dinner. There's plenty of "usual" kids food he likes - hot dogs, grilled cheese, chicken fingers, etc. Both my kids are above the curve in terms of growth, so I'm not worried there, but I just want the damn kid to eat.

*dadflex*

Single kid parents complaining about picky eaters is so cute.

Sure, the youngest only eats grilled cheese. But the middle kid HATES grilled cheese, and only wants spaghetti. The oldest HATES spaghetti and only eats chicken nuggets.

No way in hell I'm making three dinners for them. It's a rotating schedule on who picks dinner. They all get fruit and veggies with dinner, so even if they don't eat the main course, they're still eating something.

The only consolation is that whenever I make something I like (roasted chicken, chili, ribs, pork tenderloin, pot roast), they ALL complain.

My kid was a formula baby and he's almost as tall as I am at 12. He's also been a beanpole his entire life. I get that natural is best, but formula worked great for us.

I do often wonder how we decided that one two year old was "too boring" and we needed more stress in our life.

Otters, school me on child bike seats for my (huge) 1 year old to tag along with our family on rides this summer. He's like 95% percentile height, a stout lad. Do I want him behind me? over the front handlebars?

My bike has drop bars, and my wife's has riser bars. Ideally this seat would mate to both bikes, but chances are high it would stay on mine as the wife may be too chicken to ride with my 4 year old on his bike alone without a parent that could quickly maneuver/dismount to rescue him.

Speaking honestly, its probably not going to get a ton of use. I'll likely try to find a used seat... just need to know what to be on the lookout for.

Thanks all

My buddy uses this one, but might be a little much for a 1yr old.

Trailer is safer. I had my daughter on a Thule carrier that we used for ice cream runs. She loved it. Even being a pretty experienced cyclist, there were moments, though.

Continuing about food, my almost 2 1/2 year old is so incredibly picky. There's nothing he absolutely likes that I can feed him and know he's full. Some pizza, nuggets, and fries are the go to but only sometimes, sometimes bananas, cheerios, and peanut butter, but nothing in abundance, besides whole milk. Not sure how else to get him to eat.

Other than that, definitely not terrible twos, yet. No tantrums so far and is pretty well behaved.
