This Gigabyte 3090 is THICK but pretty happy with how it's looking and coming together so far. I'll post some pics once I can get it booted up, but I am taking my time with this build.

Starting to think WD’s “two week” backorder on 2TB SN850 w/ cooler was bull****.

Default I think it's done... for now

So here's the shots I took of the All TUF Flight Simulator build that started back in November and finished up last weekend:

All the parts, minus the RTX3080 that took six weeks to arrive after ordering

So, so much room in this case. Supposedly it's a mid-tower, but it is a full tower

All the basics went in pretty easy, other than dropping an M.2 screw

Mmmm, that sweet sweet cable management, never to be seen again.

RTX 3080 and monitor screen installed!

Got everything working, but want to keep tweaking the monitors

Boosted up fine but doesn't like the DCOP profile to get the RAM running right, might need to update the BIOS

Ready to work! It was running Ultra / 4k without a sweat, will tweak more as I go.

Out of the box and no DCOP...

Cinebench R20:
4407 Multi / 583 Single

3DMark Time Spy:
17305 Graphics / 14522 Performance

Is there a consensus on best PC racing game between Forza Horizon 4, rally 2, Anything else?

I loved the arcade style of old games like NFS underground, being able to upgrade modify the cars performance.

Really sweat sim setup, shaw. Are you planning on a HOTAS as well? Rudder pedals?

Assetto Corsa and Project cars numero whichever it is now.

Dirt 2.0 for proper rally, dirt others if you're looking for more of a forza horizon type racing

Iracing if you want to go proper and spend too much!

I only use Iracing and Dirt 2.0 anymore.

I'm close to being able to start building my sim rig! The aluminum 90deg gussets show today so I can start banging the frame together. The Dutch mounting bits were in rotterdam yesterday and will be in my hands tomorrow.

have time on Saturday to get after it, if it doesn't take me long to flatten the Miata seat sliders so they'll lay on the aluminum bar.. may be able to get it done!

Talk about sim rigs. Some dude posted his on AVS recently:

For scale, that's 3 77" OLED panels.

Still deciding on a set of rudder pedals, but definitely going to get a set soon.

The company that makes the yoke and throttle has a set in development so I'll probably get a cheap or used set until those release.

HOTAS.. eventually. I (pre-COVID) fly Cessna 150/172s and am setting this up primarily for sim'ing those but I have friends who play DCS and want to jump into that later.

I did get a Reverb G2 on order, and will see how I like VR vs 2D too.

Now I just need more free time to play!

Shaw, that looks great!

I have everything plugged in and went to power up but as it turns out, I plugged the CPU cooler fan into the wrong connector. Gotta take the top radiator out and try it again today. Another person on Reddit reported the same issue. I am guessing it's due to the manual labels 3 fan connectors as the "same" but they aren't.

X570 mobo seems to be defective per ASUS. Tried every troubleshooting effort and updated the BIOS for newer Ryzen CPU via the BIOS reflash USB port. When I try to power it on, only the ROG logo on the I/O shield is lighting up but nothing else has power. No Q-LED, fans or GPU lights or power are present. So power is going into the mobo but not to anything else.

I'll recheck all the connections before returning it and uninstalling it since I really don't want to undo all this work but I can't see anything that's not connected properly. I really took my time with this build too, so I'm not sure what it could be but a DOA mobo.

This weekend was supposed to be installs and gaming, now it's dismantle and repack a bunch of parts and go to UPS.

Yeah, it's weird that I had a bad feeling about this build. I am not giving up and have a few more troubleshooting things to try, but the lack of Q-LED indicator lights just makes me think it's a bad board. The chipset/SSD heatshield had the tiniest scuff on it, which now makes me think this is a repackaged defect.

Tough to hear. I went with the newer TUF X570 to avoid needing a BIOS update just to use the 5600X.

Speaking of BIOS updates, I updated the BIOS (love the Asus tool) and now the RAM boots with DOCP enabled.

From what I read i think the baseline BIOS shipped just didn't support enough of the different RAM DOCP profiles so glad that seems to be fixed.

It does look like the single core frequency is running lower than before though so now I'll go see if I need to change or tweak any of the CPU settings to run at full potential.

Haven't done much overclocking before so I don't plan on doing it manually but it's interesting to learn.

Thanks for all the good feedback, it's been fun, mostly, to jump back in to building PCs again.

For anyone needing to update the ASUS BIOS to a new version, I followed these directions and it should be updated, but still no power.
