It's called crepitus. Sometimes it's due to arthritic change, most of the time it's due to joint dysfunction.
I suggested this thread years ago but I believe it got shot down on the idea that we should not be handing out medical advice via nasioc OT threads. |

A thread like this was started awhile ago but canned simply because creating a differential really can't be done (carefully) without actually seeing the patient.

It's dishonesty, plain and simple.
I've heard minute-long radio advertisements for "Dr. X" advertising all manner of treatments, even mentioning that these treatments may be as effective as back surgery... and then at the end it's mentioned in passing to contact "Dr. X's chiropractic clinic" for further information. |

I really don't care what my colleagues call me, they still call on me professionally and personally. Now Joe Chiro mega ad campaign guy can go suck an egg. Everyone knows the best "docs" don't advertise much. As for erroneous claims, call the board on him. I and my profession would be grateful to get another mill off the streets. |

Broke my nose yesterday, did some preliminary straightening myself, then got to a mirror and realized how crooked it is, along with the pain getting worse, so I went to the er. They didnt straighten it, and the specialist they sent me to doesn't want to straighten it for ten days, after the swelling goes down he says. Seems incredibly painful to me, so should I get really trashed tonight and straighten it myself while its fresh, or is he on the right track? |

So a "broken nose" can mean a lot of things. From one end, your vomer bone could be broken or in extreme cases, you could have devitalized cartilage (now dead cartilage due to loss of blood flow). In either case, you should let the swelling go down before proceeding further and just let your otolarynologist deal with it. The generalized inflammatory process is a nuisance and prevents any further treatment.
chris619 dr_wheel Full_Clip would not recommend having BacDoc apply axial traction to your nose. |

What's the best type of laser eye surgery available at this time? I should be a candidate soon, and I want as good of vision as possible. |

As far as I know, LASIK is still the frontrunner. I'm a little out of the refractive surgery game though, and I know theres different machines, incision methods, etc.
