Started getting the trunk ready: Planned where the battery's gonna be mounted, fixed a trunk lid spring, and popped out the spare tire hold-down mound.

Brought the back seat's rear cover inside and found I still had a piece of denim just large enough to cover it up too. Was meant to be.

The work in the trunk has begun.

That big spot inside the trunk from earlier wasn't as bad like I thought. I didn't take any photos as I was curled up in the trunk awkwardly and it was too hard to get in and out, let alone just for my phone. Got it all shiny and it's solid.

It'll be a few weeks probably til the trunk's done, but in the meantime blacked out the trunk side panels.

Mine are a bit scratched and a few cracks, but I think these are too hard to find new, and not sure I feel like paying for new ones. So something I always wanted to do.

Looking brand new again!

1 can of special paint was just enough...

Trunk's almost sealed up. I had to stop as my brush was turning into a block of rubber. Just have the rear panel to do, and I cheated by spraying undercoating into the hell holes of each 1/4 panel.

I was thinking of going with this stuff called diamond kote, but I wanted a product that actually worked. I've been using Canadian made Dominion Sure Seal.

(The toothpicks are helping me remember where my battery cage pilot holes are)

So some good news / bad news:

The rust in the trunk from earlier was just all this added seam sealer from the previous owner's repair that swelled up and started breaking through the paint. Solid metal underneath! Cleaned up all shiny like my deadpedal bracket.

The bad news is that right beside this repair, there's a small hole.

It's lasted 20 years like this on it's own, so for now I filled it with JB Weld and slathered on the the rubber sealant. My bandaid patch job should hold until I'm at the paint & body step.

I've been keeping a good friend of mine up-to-date on my car, and when I mentioned I'm getting close to the stereo step, he hooked me with new wiring!

Rear seat's back in. Not showing up that well - the lighting in my underground obviously isn't the best. But I pinned stripped the outer edge of the checker pattern in blue to tie it in with the front seats a bit more...

Trunk is dry and the battery's in.

I mounted the battery cage by drilling through the floor and tapping threads into the frame. That was a painful tight squeeze but I can shake the whole care with it, not going anywhere.

And with the back seat in, so's its rear cover.

My Daily Driven Garage tail light gaskets showed up today. I was waiting for the gaskets to show up to put my tail lights back, and was waiting to put the tail lights back in for I can put the trunk's 3 side panels back in.

Looks like I'm ready for some wood shopping and mount the BRZ seats to my new brackets...

My original, old, stained, torn and smelly trunk carpet is going to help me out one more time by being a template for my new false floor.

But my new jigsaw's making quick work of it and my new, odd-shape sub box in the spare tire well.

When it's wet out I've started working on the new front seats.

I'm going a slightly different route then what I've seen on forums. Step 1 was lopping off the front bolt hole brackets. I'm leaving the factory rivets in the rail that held these brackets.

An angle grinder made quick work of them too.

It's been dry so I've been working with wood. I realized to get everything level in the trunk I first have to have the sub box put together.

I started off making a template for the box's floor out of cardstock I found in the recycling bin.

I went to test fit the floor piece in the trunk and it wedged into where I wanted it to go on the first try. So I put the walls up (yes, there's gaps for now).

I filled the gaps with Gorilla Glue construction epoxy and let it cure overnight.

And coated the inside surfaces with more rubber sealant to add to it's strength. That stuff does not like to be applied to wood. Didn't actually brush any of it on, more like smearing it into place. I think it's cause as I was applying it, it was also being absorbed a little bit. I'd like to think that'll add to its strength that much more.

Going with a sealed box as it takes up less space and enjoy how they sound.

Ordered a pair of seat brackets are few months ago.

Not sure what brand they are, but found a pair for under $200 and they're a solid 1/4" steel.

So hopefully this post makes sense too.

The BRZ seats have 'feet' that stick out lower then the sliders/rails themselves. The rails have to be elevated cause there's this... thing, that sticks out in the middle of each rail that needs to be elevated off the floor or you can't slide the seat. I chopped off the front feet cause they stuck out so much past the bracket that you'd run the risk of cutting up your calves Cutting the front feet off now made the rails the same length as the bracket.

I re-used the rear feet and bolted it to existing holes in the bracket using round-headed Robertson bolts with nylon locking nuts and washers everywhere.

To match this spacing in the front, I repurposed some spacers from my child anchor bolts I deleted earlier.

To mount the front corners I drilled new holes in the bracket and the sliders themselves. At first I was worried how strong this would be, but I when I was drilling these holes, these rails killed an entire set of drill bits... and then the drill itself.

I think I was also told by the seller the wrong year these seats were from. I found a date stamp on the bottom of the rails of Jan. 28/14.

One down, one to go.

Now to go drill shopping so I can finish the driver's side...

With a broken drill and still daylight left, I coated the outsides of the sub box.

Picked up a new Craftsman drill! Put the sub box together and installed the sub.

Even took things a step further and put in a connector plate rather then a hole filled with wires and silicone.

I took the added step of ensuring the outside of the sub box is also sealed with more construction adhesive.

The back of the amp's platform will be mounted to the front of the sub box. (The 3rd bracket is not in the picture, I needed it to get the right hardware I want for the mounting I have in mind).

Amp's rack / platform is drying. Hard to see cause things went so smoothly I didn't stop to take photos of the bare piece; but mounting holes are at the front, and risers at the rear.

Once it's in I should have everything wired up and onto the new floor...

Amp platform's dry, mounted the amp to the platform, mounted the platform to the box and wired it up.

Holy hell is it loud! Something was very off with my previous setup...

You may have noticed in previous photos that I didn't have a shift knob. It was also something I wanted to work on.

I have the STI piston shift knob and have been suffering with the worn plastic adapter pretty much since I've had it. (Got it used from a former friends' roommate in '06? '07?) It was silicone'd together this entire time and couldn't shift too harshly or it'd come loose.

Although I understand what the numbers for thread sizes mean, I'm not 100% sure how you're supposed to measure them, so I set out and got a new thread adapters.

They are: 16x1.25mm, 20x1.5mm, 18x1.5mm and the original plastic crap.

The 18x1.5mm fit best. I took advantage of the hex-head portion of it and clocked it straight on the shifter.
