The Taycan doesn't have wireless android auto/apple carplay?? Was that due to the chip shortage?

Likewise. That's why I was inquiring about what features he liked

2020/2021 have native wired Apple Carplay support only

2022 - native Apple Car Play and Android Auto support.

This Android powered box works thru a native Apple Car Play connection and thru that runs an Android 9.0 shell that allows me to use my Google account and download whatever Google Play Store apps are compatible. I got this mostly to play streaming video apps on the infotainment screen, something standard Apple Car Play or Android Auto cannot do for obvious reasons.

Will be perfect for long boring drives and when I'm hanging out in the car at a public DC charging station.

Multiwindow/app support is way easier to use and quicker to get to.

I've also noticed my calls over wifi are more stable. Before when I would move through the house and join another node on my mesh network the calls don't drop.

Okay, that's just super dope. I hadn't thought to investigate a tool like that, but now I am. Hoping to find one for Android Auto that's compatible with my Impreza. I remember when I installed a head unit with a DVD player in my 08 Forester after I picked it up in Utah. I knew it was gonna be a long drive to Alaska, and I wanted something my buddy could watch while we were in the middle of nowhere in Canada. Tokyo Drift never looked so good!

Thanks for sharing!

AT&T says I can trade in my Pixel 5 with an $800 trade in for a Pixel 6P. Should I?

Right now, why not. Seems like we're past the initial issues the 6(P) had out of the gate, and we're back on a normal path as it pertains to updates etc.

I know a ton of folks rave about the 6P's camera, if that's your thing.

Do it.

Though......imo the P5 is underrated (though it was overpriced) and the best Pixel to date. As far as cameras, the biggest improvement will be in low light and videos. My P5 had better battery life. It was also imo the perfect size.

I always wonder just how many terribly optimized apps people are running at the same time when they blame the phone for the battery life. I don't social media and don't go crazy with unnecessary apps that serve the same function as using a mobile web browser, so I can use my P6 for 2 full days on a charge if need be.

Same here. Since the last update I could probably stretch it 3 days if I had to. All of the bugs I noticed are fixed and battery has further improved. I noticed uninstalling Facebook app on my last pixel greatly improved battery life, so there's that.

Any one still using custom launchers like Nova? Does it remove that dead space below the icons (where the navigation bar or gesture bar would be)? Or move widgets down there?

I used LawnChair lawncher up until I got the P6.

it was essentially just a standard Pixel experience only without the 'at a glance' bar taking over 1/4 of the screen.

I tried using it on the P6, but I guess they haven't updated the app to work correctly on the current version, so I went back to the stock experience, but haven't really taken the time to try it again.

I use Nova and yes it looks like you can.
Normally I have the navigation bar on but I tried it with it turned off and you can put icons down at the bottom of the screen.

Yeah I'm sticking to stock on my P6.

But my P3 is running Lineageos and the stock launcher is pretty barebones, which is okay but it doesn't offer that feature.

Edit: Thanks for the heads up trevoroni.

No problem, thanks for the Infinity for Reddit suggestion a while ago.
I've been using it since and it's great that you can subscribe to sub Reddits without an actual account.

Np.

I deleted my Reddit account because of that app. Does everything I need without one. Only missing save/bookmark posts without an account. It use to but got removed iirc.

Okay I reinstalled Accubattery on my P6 and it's showing crazy numbers.

Estimates at 100% battery are ~77hrs mixed use, ~14:30 hrs screen on, and ~128hrs screen off.

Not sure if this has been posted already..

Quote:
iMessage Reactions Going Live in Google Messages

The days of "LAUGHED AT" or "LIKED" in your Google Messages app when a friend with an iPhone reacts to your text message are almost over. Actually, they very well may already be over if you are running the latest build of Google Messages Beta.

Within the past week, Google Messages Beta picked up an update to build 20220121_02_RC00 that added the functionality for me. Now, should I see a reaction from an iPhone, I get emoji in place of those weird "Questioned ***8216;Blah blah message'" reactions.

For example, in the image above, I reacted back to my Galaxy S21 with the "HaHa," question mark, and heart from an iPhone, yet those showed up as the crying-laughing, thinking, and heart-shaped eyes emoji. Tim is also seeing the same reactions change to emoji that are attached to the message being reacted to.

Again, this appears to have started going live in recent days with the latest beta update to Google Messages. You can grab that (or sign-up for the beta) at the link below. Then, start looking for those previously annoying iMessage reactions from friends. And if you are on the latest beta and not seeing reactions, you'll find a toggle for the setting in Settings>Advanced and "Show iPhone reactions as emoji."

Interesting. I'm a Beta tester and haven't seen the feature added yet.

Yeah I literally don't have that option. Z Fold 3. Latest updates running. Even yesterday there were some updates and I checked again.

Go to the Settings App(yeah it's an actual app) and clear the cache, restart the phone. I had to so this when I got my Pixel to get some of the settings to show up in the menus.

Thanks. Good idea about clearing the cache. Cleared it for Settings and Messages. Still no dice.
