It should be an interesting season once they finally get going. Lots of storylines to follow up on.

2020 may have been my favorite F1 season I've watched. Back to back to back race weekends. It was like watching NFL or maybe Nascar. F1 could learn a lot. NFL, Nascar, Premier League, they all play every week at standard times. I'd love to see a F1 season where they ran events 10 weeks in a row.

I'd like to see the races always at the same time (I'd take 9am Pacific Time, 12 noon Eastern time, 5pm GMT) That's primetime in Europe and watchable in the two biggest media markets on the planet.

I'd also like to see a second half of the season run in the southern hemisphere summer or places that are always summer. Australia, Brazil, South Africa, then find 7 equatorial or desert races like India, Singapore, Bahrain, Malaysia, UAE, maybe come to California, Laguna Seca or Sonoma. another 10 weeks back to back to back.

I'd watch that season every race. It would be easy to watch, just tune in... Same Day Same Channel.

Putting the races as close together as possible would mean less opportunity for development which would mean lower cost. Seems like a win win.

In US for me F-1 lately is almost always on the same channel, ESPN2, sometimes they put qualifying on another channel. I love the current format as there are no ads. It gives a much better flow to the race. I personally think it fully justifiable as the cars are rollling adds along with billboards in the background.

I do wish they were running the new car this year, I am hopefull that McLaren with a Mercedes engine can win some races and make things more interesting. I am a Lewis Hamilton fan but there has not been enough of an external challenge of late. Ferrari were coming along but then it turned out only because they were cheating. I never wanted to allow cheating so bad as last year. There were some good races though which saved the season.

I think this is the latest on Fernando:

https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/a...ident/5406309/

And since someone mentioned Hulk, the latest about him is that he's either going to be the Aston Martin reserve driver, or something else close to AM. But between Vettel and Stroll, their seats are full, and Hulk isn't going to get preference over either of them, so...

so RedBull and Alpha Tauri will use Honda engines until 2025, itīs possible because of the engine freeze in 2022.

https://twitter.com/HondaRacingF1/status/1361239521497595904

and our Lord and savior Lewis Hamilton will get his absurd paycheck for another year

Interesting. So why doesn't RB just use Merc or Ferrari engines, assuming Ferrari makes up the power deficit? Is it because Merc or Ferrari won't sell to them?

when was the last time a F1 Team won the championship with an engine they bought from a team which also participated in the F1?

My personal opinion: you will never get the best engine spec as a customer as long as the seller has itīs own F1 team.

and letīs look at the engine supplier situation:
Mercedes:
own Team
Williams
McLaren
Aston Martin

Ferrari:
own Team
Haas
Alfa Romeo

Renault:
own Team

No chance in hell for RedBull getting a Merc engine, and without the Honda engines Renault has to provide RedBull with engines, again, and we all know how well this partnership ended.

And again my personal opinion: the Honda engine is better than the Renault and the Ferrari engine, so RedBull may have a chance in competition with Mercedes when it comes to Aerodynamics (I am looking at you Adrian Newey)

An engine manufacturer can pick who if anyone it supplies to at least within certain bounds. So no one has to give red bull an engine. As Red Bull has been a very good and well run team I think there has been pressure from the sanctioning body to make sure Red Bull gets an engine deal. Red Bull ownership has not hesitated to speak bluntly about its engine manufacturer and they may have burnt bridges as well.

F-1 though in the end is a bit more free market than other racing series and there is definitely a lot of havs vs have nots.

Yes, I agree with your points. But Ferrari is supposedly back on track with their engine output for this year. So that's one thing. Another thing is that yes, Merc probably supplies second tier engines to their customers, but as far ahead as the Merc engine is, I bet the second tier engine would still be better than the Renault, or whatever Honda is going to bring to the table. Look at how well the Racing Point did last year with Perez and Stroll. But that's just the argument for RB to be a Merc customer. But yeah, no chance in hell Merc would supply engines to RB, so among the rest... I guess keeping Honda around is as good a chance as any. With the off chance that Ferrari pulls their head out of their ass and brings a competitive engine.

Chassis vs chassis, Newey/RB is hands down the class of the field. I also think that Max is the best passer in the field. So if they could get their hands on even the second best engine, I think they'd take the crown from Mercedes. And Mercedes probably knows it hence the reason why they wouldn't supply RB with an engine.

Meh, I'm just talking myself into circles... Let's get this season started already!

I am a Lewis Hamilton fan but I want to see a competitive season. I still think Mercedes will have the dominant car though. Lewis impressed me from the start of his career and have been a fan since.

thereīs is another investigation about Vettel ignoring double yellow in corner one, maybe he will start from 20. Vettel should retire, collecting stamps is a nice hobby.

Calling it now. Mercedes 1-2. The mid-field is where all the action will be IMO. So many teams/drivers want to see do well this season. Sadly, looks like Schumacher will not be one of them. The driver everyone else on the grid has to watch out for is Mazepin - if they want to finish the race.

Alonso qualified better than I expected, but Ocon and Vettel did far worse.

I agree with hi5.0, it'll be a Mercedes 1-2 followed by Vers, with all the fun action in the mid-field. Should be a fun race to watch.
