Default F1 2020: Nurburgring race in the snow?

Who else would pay really good money to watch a F1 Race in the snow? I say have them bolt up some WRC snow tires, and go at it.

That would be amazing at first thought- however, the snow would not hold up to the race conditions and grip levels would be so low that the cars would not function properly. Ultimately it would be a disaster. WRC on snow would be much better as the cars are tuned to handle it. F1 cars are so specialized I don't think they could be tuned to do well on snow.

It would need to be on an ice track with studded tires like they do in Scandanavia, to work well enough, imo.

Even then the likely repair bills from rut damage (amongst other slippy condition problems) make it unlikely.

A nice theory though.

Seems people always forget about the sprinkler wet race idea. Maybe that's the Atreides in me.

Now we are talking! An Ice race with studded tires and a low lap count might work. Maybe make it a long track (20K or so) such that the low lap count isn't much of an issue. That would be fun for sure.

A sprinkler aided wet race would be good to see as well, as it would be a different challenge for the teams and drivers.

I like your thinking.

I dunnooo, still zipping along pretty quick, and definitely would be more intense in a race situation.......... but open wheel cars wouldn't be the best thing for car to car contact in slippery situations when driven aggressively.

Wheel to wheel rally style would be intense and certainly more forgiving WHEN contact occurs

I'd like to see that.
