Post Pics Inside of WRC Rally car. Review follows from the Drivers seat!!!

Hey all, guess what I found today. Sorry to one up ya Greg, but I had total access to the Rally car from the Auto Show today. I burned up the only disk I had, here she be!!!
http://albums.photopoint.com/j/Album...296&a=11689949

By the way a few comments. Inside the quarters are TIGHT. Took a bit of squeezing to get my 6'1" 180lb frame in there. Once I was in, the seats are a bit narrow, The car is set up for Burns, that man must have NO butt. The controls are, of course, right on the money. Everything is close, tight, and precise. The steering ratio is nothing. Just over 1/2 turn center to lock, MAX. But very easy to steer. The throttle and brake, no clutch, remember it is a semi-auto, ala F1, are a bit far apart, but that is what left foot braking is all about. The pedals are HUGE. Hand brake is right there. Any questions, hit me, be glad to answer everything I can. I could write for days as I spent about an hour inside and out of it.

umm.. that handbrake.. hydraulic unit..correct? Also, were you able to see the actual turbo itself. If so..any idea as to what size they were using, IIRC they are using a 38cc turbo restrictor but i have NO clue what size turbo ( i may be way off on the restrictor size, i know the lemans racers use an intake restirctor of 52 mm and the btcc cars use another restrictor size as well.. just this gear turning in my head.

Thanks

oh.. yeah you lucky punk lol.. too bad the motor was blown. i could see you tearing around in that beast

Soil? Nope only soiled myself. Oops.
Needed some time to myslef after that one. Ya know, got in my RS after, it just isn't the same. Damn.

They said if it was running I could drive it to the truck for them. I came about a half a nanosecond from calling TAD on a house call. Damn, I should have. Oh well. Next year, next year.

Tacky tacky tacky way too much carbon fiber use on the dash, also where are the cup holders? The seats look so confining, no cushin at all. And what about the stero???
P.S. Dan well you might have gotten behind the steering wheel of the WRC but you are still a SLICK M1 tanker - not an M1A1 killing machine like I am! Ha. I will take my M1A1 over your puny WRC any day!
Kidding. good shots. Talk to you later.

Hey! What is SubieGal doing reading our forum?! Shoo shoo!

BTW, I borrowed some WRC tapes from 93, 94, 96 seasons. Burns had some funny looking hair back then. One of these days, I'll have to get a screen grab so you guys can see.

Funny. I decide to read Car and Driver's web site for the first time in a LONG time and what do I find? Tons of info of pertinence to i-club dudes.

The rules allow turbocharging, but with a catch, known as a restrictor. The restrictor is a plate 0.2 inch thick and made of aluminum, with a hole at its center 1.4 inches in diameter. It sits between the airbox and turbocharger.
This comes from their May '98 article about the WRC .
