Default 04 WRX - No power windows, no power locks, no illumination lights!!!

Hey everyone

I've been battle this issue for about a week...

It all started when my fog lights stopped working. Checked the fuse, it was fine... figured it was the relay. I pulled the relay and swapped it with the A/C relay and it was working fine... plugged it back in and then power windows, power locks, and all illumination stopped working... all fuses are in tact.

any help is much appreciated.

thanks

Did you checked the fuse box besides the steering wheel? Swap out the fuse for a new one. A fuse could be blown even when it looks intact.

replaced the illumination fuse just now and that started working again. the locks work too now... still no windows!
doesn't matter which switches i use, not one window will budge. and i don't hear a click from the relay either

Fuse SBF-6 in the panel under the hood supplies power to the windows. Use a test light to verify power is getting to both sides of the fuse. If that is ok then check the wiring going to that fuse location is making good connection.

iam having a similar problem with my 2002 wrx the turn signals and all the power windows don't work I have tracked the problem down to the green/white wire on the coil side of the relay on the dash has no voltage , I can get everything to work with a power probe . I have looked at wiring schematics and I cant find were the green/white wiring is feed from

That relay is most likely the ignition relay. Data shows that a grn/wht wire is tied to the output side of the relay contacts. A wht/blu wire supplies the power to the relay contact. Verify that those points are getting proper power while the trouble is happening. If there is a problem at the input side there is a connection at connector B62 pin-1 where the problem might be at.

Default having the same issue on my 04 wagon

My power windows have not been working for a long time, but my dash lights just stopped working as well as power locks and dome light although I can still turn my dome light on, it will not come on when the doors are open.

The one thing I keep reading that all these issues seem to have in common is that we have all messed with our Fog lights. I was fiddling with mine when my dash lights stopped working. I didnt even unplug anything but I might have grounded a wire somehow?

Has anyone on this thread got theirs to work again? Trying to chase the problem. Thanks.

Whenever you have problems like this you need to make sure the fuses under the hood and in the dash panels are good and have power to them. The ignition needs to be ON when checking power in the dash panel.

If the fuses are okay then I suspect your light and locking problem may be due to a bad ground problem. You could run a test lead from the negative battery post or a know good ground point to the suspected bad ground point to verify a bad ground.

The door lock and light issues could also be due to a problem with the integrated module. Make sure power is getting to it before replacing it, if you do that. With the problems you are having it would be good to purchase the factory wiring data for your car. It will save you a lot of time and money in the end. Ebay is a good place to find them.

Thanks! Downloaded the diagram. Still going through everything but so far no luck. I have noticed there are tons of threads on this issue on all the forums but they almost always end with no result posted. Pretty annoying reading through pages and pages only to get to the end and the posts stop. I'll post my findings once I get them. But the car is my daily so overytime I tear it apart it has to all go back together lol. Thanks for taking the time to respond.

In order to find where the trouble is at you need to check for power using a voltmeter. Check for power getting to things like the power window control panel (make sure the trouble isn't due to just the lockout switch in the wrong position). The dash lights are controlled by the integrated module which is located in the return side of the circuit. Power goes directly to the lights and they are dimmed by changing the resistance in the ground return side of the circuit. So if you see power is getting to the dash lights and they don't work then check the integrated module operation.

I have an 06 Subaru Impreza Sti and I have this exact issue! I have taken my dash apart numerous times trying to track down the culprit. I’ve checked all fuses and relays that are related to the windows and door locks. Nothing has worked for me. Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated!

You need to check where power and ground is getting to using at least a light probe and preferably a meter. Even a good fuse is no help if no power is getting to it. Power is provided to the window circuit via a circuit breaker so if there is a short issue it will reset after a short period of time.

Agreed.
Most Subaru circuits are what I call "pull circuits", this means the circuit gets power, goes through most bits, but relying on a ground.
This means using a meter or test light shows power (good thang), but no ground (wire, control unit, etc.) still means a dead electrical part.

Some cars are "push circuits", meaning power comes from the battery or close to it. Dead there means dead later.
Pull circuit can be live almost everywhere, but needs some ground (part of why it is called a circuit.....).
All the power in the world means crap if there is no ground.

No ground, no circuit.

Check the grounds to those things and make sure that is okay. You could manually ground them to be sure that side of the circuit is okay. There isn't a common source of power to those points.

Did you check the grounding by using a temporary ground to the faulty areas?
