Pulled over for going UNDER the speed limit
That's right, UNDER the speed limit. 30 in a 40.
Nothing better to do than harrass people. Go eat a donut. Cam

My ex got one of those bad boys. Not sure why it's called a speed LIMIT if you're not allowed to drive below it. I can understand on the interstate, but in a 40 mph zone... sounds like the popo was just having a bad hair day.
I got a ticket driving behind a cop a few weeks ago. He slammed on his brakes to match my speed. Then my radar detector went off. He then flipped his lights on, slowed down behind me, and pulled me over for 83 in a 70, even though I was doing about 9 over when my radar went off. I guess he didn't notice I had one and figured he could get away with it. The ticket was $158... 13 over. Version 5 rear spoiler strikes again... -Brett |

Well when you think about it, that's how drunk/drugged up drivers make themselves noticeable, they drive under the speed limit thinking they won't be noticed, when infact it makes them stand out more. I'm sure he had the impression that you were intoxicated or something, just a thought.

I didn't get a ticket. He had nothing to get me on. He said, "why did you slow down when I got up on you". I said, "just to do it". I was going 40 initially, then I just let off the gas and started coasting at 30. Really I just did it to see if he would pull me over, and he did. How predictable.
Someone is going to get killed with these Barney Fife cops. They had their hands on their guns like they were going to shoot someone. "Respect my Authoritwa!" Cam |

Going slow is not a reason to pull someone over when there is no minimum speed posted. If I had been swerving, I could see it. I could have been an 80 year old woman and just driving 10 under the limit.

, I agree. I guess there should be a law stating the minimum speed limit is 10 under the maximum limit or something.

Well think about it...if you had say something illegal in your car, you'd be pretty cautious not to get pulled over for something as simple as speeding. And if you were intoxicated, you'd probably not have the ability to drive at the correct speed in a correct way, so you'd be forced to drive slower to keep yourself on the road. Been there? Done that? no, never, not me.

So your mad.... Becuase.... [Let me get this straight]
Your driving the speed limit... Cops pulls up and you slow down 10mph Below the speed limit? That makes you suspicious... Why would somone slow down when a cops pulls up? Maby pehaps becuase they are Guilty? Don't hate on cops becuase they are doing their job.. |

Celly, thanks for reassureing me there are still intelligent people on this board. And Aspen, I am sure you were on a single lane road, but if you were in the left lane, (the passing lane, wow what a concept for some people to understand) you would be VERY in the wrong. You were not stopped because you were going 30, you were stopped because you deliberately slowed down for no apparent reason. |

Man, you just have bad luck with cops. You must have been in a bad mood to want to piss them off.

Simply Put. Changing your driving patterns in and around cops, and you look suspicious. In the eyes of cops, Only the guilty have reason to be afraid. |

I don't know, but most SC cops I've dealth with has been total jagoffs. The exception was that of the South Carolina Trooper that didn't give me a ticket and had my rental towed away right away between Greenville/Greer/Spartanburg on the way to Columbia, SC like 10pm during last year's ice/snowstorm. But the only reason he let me off was because I was pretending to be a good wholesome Christian. Boy was that trooper a sucker.
I decided to go that route after some dude gave me a lift off the deserted roadway to the nearest gas station. He was telling me that the cops there give tickets to people for abandoning their cars and such. Funniest thing though, after the dude pulled over and asked if I was ok (icy roads), he offered me a lift. Of course I took it because there wasn't any lit places open at the time and I've been waiting about 10 minutes in the cold for someone to drive by. First thing the dude said when I hopped in with my bag, 'You're not going to car-jack me are you?'. Guess I don't look like a good christian person. Once again, dumb trooper. Not like the fine Georgia cops like Damn Yankee. edit: thinking back on that incident, i do remember the cop coming inside to get a cup of coffee and asking if that wrecked volvo was mine. i told him yes, and for the next hour he sat outside in his squad car watching me inside the gas station with a restaurant inside of it. this was a separate cop that was waiting for the trooper to arrive i guess. apparently since it was a highway a trooper had to make the call versus the county cop. Yes. In south Carolina, Just challenge the Officers to a Game of Wit. Answer every one of their questions, with a question.... It puts them in an infinite loops, and soon, their heads explode. True story.

Could be worse, the police officer could have came to your accident scene, initially releasing you to no fault, consipired with the opposing driver, then came to your house later with other sheriffs forcing a ticket on you as to protect the at fault driver(Ran a red light at 50mph) from a law suit. Only later to be caught in court by judge, witnesses 3k in attorneys fees, two broken joints, and one year later. It was kinda funny, as the accident report stated that no one ran the red light(Per the cop), the district attorney took the report as the truth, and subpeoned the first two witnesses only believing the officers report, it quickly went downhill from there for him as they both refuted his claims causing one witness to blow up in court for missing work.
A neighbor officer one day talking as I walked down the street actually stated that he pulls over most import riders with big wings etc. just becuase 80% they will have drugs?!! Needless to say shortly after that I got the STi. :'( now im profiled! Otherwise most are aight, just doin their job. Just like the people where ya may work most are cool, and always some that are a hassle or worse.. Jason |

You are about as good as the kid who complains about the cop wasting 20 minutes of his time after the kid gave the cop his father's business *get out of jail free* card. You antagonize the cop, tell him you are, and expect to be left alone? AJ |

Everyone in Atlanta slows down when they see a cop, it doesn't matter where you are or what time it is. On the Interstate the average speeds are between 70-75 but when a cops around the entire place drops down to 65.
Maybe Aspen didn't want a cop on his tail, maybe for him when a cop is following him he is more concerned about the cop then paying attention to the road. Therefore, slowing down 10mph gives the cop ample oppertunity to pass and continue on his way. |
