I didn't even notice the difference in subdials until you pointed that out, I just assumed they were the same. Yeah the stepped dials on the Sport are a little nicer.

I like the latter one without the datonaesq bezel about one bajillion times better. Classic el primero form

exagerated for internet effect, not to insult OE, the primotona or whatever it is called is still lovely. JUst really like the classic version

However

Sport bracelet is very meh for a $10K watch. Going to go against the traditional wisdom and say it’s not worth the $500 up charge as I suspect the watch wears nicely on a strap and the bracelet will just sit in a drawer. If the Original uses this bracelet I’d think long and hard if you’d even be wearing it on the bracelet before ordering.

I had been thinking about the Original, but something about the Sport called out to me. Both dials have their own idiosyncrasies, but the 38mm is all dial and the Sport wears smaller than a 41mm because of the ceramic bezel. Both use the same El Primero 3600 movement. Do you want a vintage reissue or a modern variation with the same capability?

There is no bad watch in all of the Zenith catalog. Shop what makes you happy

Nice pickup.

With babby#4 on the way, I think my watch buying days are behind me. Now it's minivan and house shopping  Use protection kids.

Eash 4, you are a brave man. We have 3 and I am not sure I will survive it.

Minivan is tops though, love our odyssey. Everything but your dignity fits.

Not to veer off topic but give the Kia Carnival in a decent spec if you're serious minivan shopping, it comes in FWD only but doesn't have looks that will kill your soul.

I always get the bracelet version when available. Way cheaper to get it with the watch than to decide later and pay the "sucker fee". There are tons of beautiful aftermarket straps available. There's only one perfectly fitted bracelet.

As for the reissue vs primerotona I would choose the latter. Primerotona all day.

Like I said, I’m going against the grain. It’s very reminiscent of the Rolex 5 digit bracelet, frankly. I love this watch head but the bracelet is meh.

It's under $1k but looking forward to adding it to my future wearing rotation, will post pics once I officially receive it in Dec.

I'm moving my Geckota K1 L08 for $160 shipped to my NASIOC fam if anyone is interested. Would be a good starter watch for someone. Comes with sailcloth, rubber, and nato strap.

I’ve been wishing my 58 had a date these last couple times I’ve worn it. Odd for me since I’ve never really liked date watches. I guess wearing the DJ made me appreciate the date and cyclops.

On some watches I think a date just plain works. Others not so much. It is just bad luck that the watches you want without a date seem to come with them, and the watches you want with a date do not have them.

Maybe it is a case of the grass is greener on the other side kind of thing.. or the heart wants what it cannot have.

I prefer wearing a date complication watch at work as I'm constantly doing paper work documentation, constantly signing and dating documents and it's nice to glance at my wrist instead of having to pull out my phone.

I'm frequently working 7 days a week now and the days of the month run together in my brain, can never get the actual date straight without double checking.

Those look like a classy, hansom strap. Why did you choose that maker?

I feel like I have started a review on HD straps before... I will have to go back and check my drafts folder.

I bought a Greg Stephens strap for my Navitimer, but it doesn't fit. I need to figure out another watch to put it on because it's too nice to just let sit.

Who do we like for leather straps now, is Crown and Buckle still a good place? I've got a strap from them that finally needs to be replaced, figured I'd see what the competition was like before I order another.

In other news -

Anyone interested in an Orient Chicane? Looks like they've appreciated pretty rapidly, a few BNIB on eBay in the $400-$500 range. Mine's got some scuffs and scratches but a brand new crystal. It's on eBay for $225, I'd sell to an OTter for $180. Can provide moAr pics if needed.

I'm also letting go of a watch, I don't expect many bites here but putting it out there for anyone who is in the market for a cheap but reliable Rolex Sub homage/knockoff, the Pagani Design PD-1661, a replica of the 40mm Green sub, aka Hulk, powered by a Seiko NH35A movement which runs about 10-15 sec fast per day. Paid $100 new, asking $60 OBO.

I have confirmed its water resistant enough to handle regular swimming which I've tested a number of times.

Some minor wear on the bracelet, otherwise good condition, comes with full links and original box. Selling because I have too many new watches in the pipeline and kinda over this one.
