Absolutely not hating on people that go bags, but this logic.......

you do realize *handling* is different from *power*... I mean Dodge Ram duallies make like 600 ft-lb of torque or something like that but take that out for a lap on the Nurburgring...

I prefer bags to static slam...

So if I get these can I drive with the bag half filled? I like the lowered look but not slammed and not insanely high for daily driving. So if I put it inbetween fully inflated and empty would that work? Then just empty it to park? Sorry if this is bookish or already answered

if i were to do something like this i would have four settings: high for crazy inclines/speed bumps, stock height, lowered for daily driving and slammed when i lock the car in a parking lot.
I went with the elevel system and it does just that. 3 preset ride heights, and fully aired out. then there is your high setting, your driving setting, and your low setting.

I can't comment yet on ride quality, but the setup I have went with has been on many track cars, and thats good enough for me to prove it can handle lol. Plus I won't ever drive on a track so DD will suffice just fine.

Yes, the car will be out of alignment. you basically want to get aligned on whatever height you want to "drive" around on, and you stay at that. Then you can air down/up at other times when needed. Being out of alignment for that little period of time imho isn't going to destroy your tires, unless you are driving out of alignment for a long period of time which would be pointless lol.

If you go with a pressure based system you need to set each bag at a certain PSI, and figure out what psi in each corner you would like for optimal "driving" height. This is why I went with a height based setup, as its done automatically It will adjust on its own and you have no numbers to worry about, but this also worries some people as they would like to see what psi your at in case you have a leak you can spot it.

Air suspension is pretty much common on all large euro sedans and it works very well. Anyone who thinks it isn't functional hasn't driven a car on bags. I'll be the first one to call the "stanced" "hellaflush" stuff ridiculous, but bags are great. If it were cheaper my beater A8 would be on air for sure.

Love the bag setups and if I can I'm tryna get a kit this summer. What happens when you have some sort of leak in one of the lines and your 200+ miles away from your home, can you still drive it knowing its sagging on that side?? Doesn't have to be 200+ it can be whatever number you want it to be. I know the bag systems are reliable, I just have that illustration in my mind if something were to go wrong with one of the sides and lose air, what would you do. Mine would be on my daily driver of course.

if you have a 4 corner setup then yes you can limp it home.
another good way to prevent bag failures is check valves. If you get a tank leak it wont affect the pressure in the bag.
where i came from before subies

I have had some great experiences with this already. haha
I've cut a line more times than I want to admit, and
I've blown a bag about 5 miles from home, which might as well be 200!

On my particular bag setup, the fronts suspension acts very independently of one another. If one side is totally aired up, the other side will still sit on my axle/wheel.
The back however, is different. If one side is aired up totally, the other side comes up as well.

So of course my front bag blew.
My bag setup is adjustable, so I actually spun the strut body all the way up, to the point where I could drive it home.
Multiple VW friends of mine have coilovers as spares, just incase they get stranded far away from home. I actually went out and bought 2 front coilovers, and I also have an extra front bag.
Also, you should always have female to female connectors and a bunch of air line!

okay so basically check the lines/valves every now and then and always carry something extra just in case. even if you installed everything properly should you expect failure sometime in the future or its rare?

Having emergency parts is always wise, as is the case with anyone serious about vehicle modifications. For long road trips, I always carry a few straight unions and extra air line, but again this is strictly for emergency purposes.

With a proper install, you have absolutely nothing to worry about. There are plenty of completely OEM cars with air ride, even luxury power cars such as Lamborghini's! Air Ride is common in ambulances, buses and eighteen wheel trucks, so that should give you a general idea on the safety of air ride. Again, I'll reiterate, with a proper install (no bag or air line rubbing, and properly routed air line) there is no reason to expect a failure of any sort. I've been on air for well over a year now and have NEVER had an issue. As with any mods you do to your car, it's always good to do routine maintenance and checks just to make sure nothing has shifted from it's original position since the install.

Thanks for keeping the thread clean everyone, keep the shots coming!

So what would I need for a DD air ride setup on my 02 wrx? I'm a SUPER noob when it comes to air, but am extremely interested in learning where I can get a setup and how maintenance works.
