Update.

New oil pan kit, crank pulley, and engine mounts on their way. Also forgot to mention I’ll be making and posting videos to document the build on YouTube.

Wow, those clear timing belt covers are the coolest thing I've seen this week.

Good luck with the project!

You can buy them from IAG, they are even cooler in person.

And thank you, I’ll need all the luck I can get on this one.

Some colored hardware would look extra dope on that clear timing cover. Whether anodized black, purple or maybe even some burnt titanium. It would be a nice finishing touch.

Haha oh no, don’t let big brother fool you. He is just as goofy!

I contacted Yperion Awhile ago asking if he would sponsor all new titanium hardware throughout the engine bay annnnnd that’s when I realized he doesn’t just make titanium bolts haha

I actually have his intake manifold/tgv to head bolts, timing cover bolts and alternator nut. His stuff is gorgeous and doesn't take as long to get here from russia as you'd think. But christ does the cost rack up fast. You could also check out Titanium Works. They make gorgeous hardware too.

Oil pan test fit complete. Also got my old ETS kit mocked up to take pictures and sell to raise money for my next kit.

How did the FLUIDAMPR crank pulley fit with the IAG timing covers? I have their clear version, so I am deciding to either go with FLUIDAMPR or the ATI one like I have in my STi. Curious for some pics of the clearance from the timing cover to the FLUIDAMPR crank pulley. Nice build btw!

Soooo apparently you had to trim/shave the clear timing covers to clearance for EITHER aftermarket pulley option . I haven’t done it yet because I’m waiting for the new crank pulley bolt and timing cover bolts to get here before I take anything off. I did try to test fit the Fluidampr and it did hit the lip on the covers, I’m not sure why this is a thing…

Hmmmmm wonder if the ATI one needs it shaved? On my STi build, the OEM timing belt cover didn't need to be shaved for the ATI that I used.....

why do you need adjustable idler pulleys if you can degree each cam individually?

Definitely let me know!

The LIC idler pulleys were extra from a different short block build that never got finished. When I dropped this long block off to have it inspected and rebuilt, I also dropped off a bunch of parts just in case as I wasn’t sure what the damage would be or which parts IAG would end up needing/using. There was definitely material taken off both the heads and the block surfaces, how much? Can’t recall. But IAG sent my timed longblock back with all 4 adjustable cam gears (I also dropped off) AND the LIC idlers installed.

I got mine from IAG. Although someone messaged me saying how his IAG red cover melted and made his motor jump timing so I need to contact IAG before this cover stays on my motor.

Is your hood white? The one on the car is a jank cut oem hood with a scoop bolted to it. I have a jdm white hood sitting in my parts hood to replace this jank one but even my jdm hood isn’t in the best condition. How’s your hood? Have anything else for me haha? Was thinking about going carbon fiber hood but only if I can find a company to make me a matching hatch and possibly roof...

I have a 7 human year border collie and 5 year rat terrier. They are amazing friends and make me smile all the time.
Going to watch your vids.
Thanks.

digging the build as a former sf owner & someone that tinkers on a legit swapped one for a buddy

loving the puppers , on our 7th & 8th rescues now & a rescue cat for the big dogg , and well deep into doggie stuff , including building a private dog park now

i would seriously consider removing the lic adjustable idlers as you have adjustable cam gears , that really makes zero sense , the bearings in the adjustable idlers are smaller than oem and require way more frequent replacement than oem

my destroker build still has single avcs , used rcm aluminum exhaust gears , but required the nos lic idlers i had in stock to end up where it needed to be -- perfect , it's definitely in the back of mind to stay on top of them , and with the much higher rpm and track day abuse - even more so

have fun & be safe , they get silly in these power ranges
