Small addition that makes re-fueling a bit more in style

Aluminum Fuel cap from Japan. They have one on Subispeed but only red I believe.
Attaches to oem cap with 3M tape. Looks and feels great.

You can get it here on ebay but price will be steep.

A new addition (Amazed they are still coning)

Idoing 9 inch Head Unit
iDoing UIS7862 , MCU 2021.04.28

I have upgraded kicker speakers and tweeters. Decided to jump
on the Idoing unit after doing a lot of research. Mostly positive reviews based
on what I have seen.

Install:
Plenty of videos on youtube so I will not bore you guys to death.
It was actually easier to install on my 2015 as the model I purchased does not have HK, just the simple stock radio with CD player.

Interestingly the unit did not have the two screws found on each side of the stock HU.
Usually on youtube videos this involved removing the glove compartment and some trim pieces under the steering wheel. Not hard nut an extra step.

My stock radio just popped off with the clips of the plastic surrounding it.

It is best to do it as a two person job, especially when placing back. One person can do it but it makes it even easier with a second person.

I started from bottom, did top and then middle. There are different opinions on what works, this worked for me and just take your time.
You do need a bit more pressure as it fits very snug. So make sure you have it all done as it will be harder to remove after.

Reverse Camera:

I decided to keep the reverse camera where it is due to the fact it has a low resolution and would bother me on the larger screen.
It is also something I got used to for al this years so to me it was not worth taking the top hat off and messing with it.

The plugs are rather easy to install and fit right into place, a true plug and play.

I kept it in sleep mode so it does not power off completely when you turn the car off.
Otherwise it does an almost full reboot and takes a moment to boot up and update time etc.

GPS:
I placed it with the 3M tape on top of the "radio" silver unit itself of the Idoing. In this location I have had no issues with the signal.

External mic:
I decided not to use it. Some have and is still not too good. Maybe Ill find a better external mic to attach it to.
I do not really care as I rarely take calls in the car and if I must then I can always just press speaker on my phone so it takes over the mic job.

Some things I noticed initially with its screen loader (not Agama):
If you press the "back" arrow then it kills the process so it will not start playing when car is turned on. This is alleviated with a new screen loader like AGAMA that I highly recommend and you can see it in the photos.

Still plays radio and can add multiple apps under each of the main categories. Radio pick up a bit worse than stock unit but also I think there is an app to improve that down the road. You also can select background, I chose leather as it mimics the texture of the dash in our cars.

USB cables:
I placed all three (one of which is for the link with android auto) into the glove box.

Lights:
The lights on the screen are the same or very close red like in the WRX. You can also set automatic dimming of the screen depending on light conditions.

Direct link for android auto is needed (cable) links are below

Opinion:
I am blown away how the sound has improved. The subwoofer also sounds better. Once I added the Agama screen loader it made it even better.
Main "issues" but a minor one to me is the low mic volume, some say adding a mic app can help from google store (Ill look into this later).

I also like the ability to have a split screen so part of it is my navigation like Waze an the other is set to music.

There is a screen protector specifically made for it on aliexpress (full clear or with the black surrounding area colored black).
You want the two holes in line (so final two options) on the link as some are for their other units that have single or at an agle mic and reset buttons.

Screen loader Agama is spectacular and I chose red to match the rest of the interior.

I had my friend Jacek assist me with install here in NY at allboroughcustom near LIC - best man for custom speaker jobs...
anything audio/electric he is your man. Five star reviews for a good reason. He is great!

As usual special thank to my brother aka Perscitus for making this happen. Respect!

*****If you have HK unit then you also need this!

Screen Protector:

Good USB cable for androidauto link:
Cable Matters USB-IF Certified 10 Gbps Gen 2 USB A to USB C Cable (USB C to USB Cable) in Black 3.3 Feet https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XMY49BM...WPY6FH1GRQSX50

AGAMA Car launcher

  • Can adjust steering wheel buttons to your liking
  • External and onboard mic is so-so imo but minor issue
  • Take your time when putting it back on, it fits very tightly

STI oem Engine oil filter for FA20 DIT

For some time I have been using the oem STI engine oil filter. Wanted to wait and see how car does with it.
I like it an due to its specs vs black oem filter I decided to pay the bit extra,
especially that I have been driving less lately so do not perform oil changes as often.

Its about 34 bucks

Multiple friends of mine from Japan have used it on their FXTs/Levorgs and WRX vehicles - track and road cars.

The screen protector for the Idoing 9 inch head unit arrived.

I purchased both versions. The full glass and one with the black border.

Decided to place the one with the black soft border - aligned using the
holes of the unit, then from top to bottom it was and easy application

Main limiting factor was the possible dust. I closed all windows prior to install
and waited a bit to let largest particles fall down. Used a swiffer to attract dust from
areas near the unit

One small piece fell in during application but with the provided stickers etc I easily
removed it and now its flawless

No worries scratching the main usnit during cleaning of fingerprints. I can go all out cleaning it for the sake of my ocd

Definitely recommend (Straing hole 1 and Straight hole 2)

8 years ago today I drove away with her from the Manchester Subaru Car lot in NH.

Since then I have had a great time driving this car.
It was fun exploring the new drive train and transmission. Seeing what can be done and how much can it be pushed while not destroying it.

I again want to give special thanks to my brother Perscitus for helping me along the way.

The car is still ticking and doing well on the roads.
I have performed two drain and fills for the TR690 CVT and it has been holding up well. Thankfully no leaks or CVT issues, especially with this 2015 first model.

I still look back at this car when I walk away from it and enjoy driving it despite being a manual transmission driver.

I think she will stay with me for some time until maybe I have to jump to electric

Very beautiful, and I love how you have kept it up in such a thorough manner. Your CVT experience and feedback is very interesting. Thank you

Today I said farewell to the mighty wrx.

It found a new good home where I feel it will be taken care of properly

Over the years it brought me joy and has never caused me any trouble.

Still happy to hear it will be in the tri-state area.
