[17 2.0i-S] Any way to disable inbuilt speed limit info/nav system? (Australia)
Hey all,
I just picked up a 2017 Impreza 2.0i-S (Australia, if the context helps) and I really love it – it's a great car. However, I wish there was some way I could disable or remove the speed limit info that comes with the nav software. I love the digital speedo in the instrument cluster, but the speed limits are wrong for my area (I've updated it to latest version) and it's info I don't need. When I drive, I use Waze or Google maps, and those speed limits are much more accurate. I could hide it by cycling to a different screen on the instrument cluster, but again, the digital speedo is great. I tried to install a US map update (so the Nav would have no idea of Australian speed limits) on the head unit, but couldn't get it to download through the Subaru Map Update program for Windows. Does anyone know of any way I can a) disable the speed limit popup b) disable the internal navigation software (which I don't need) or c) disable the GPS, so I'm not bugged by the incorrect speed limits? Any help or ideas would be awesome. Cheers!

Okay, on another forum, someone identified the part I think I'm looking for:
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/143253237617 So if I'm understanding the manual correctly, it looks like the GPS antenna module is located behind the gauge cluster: https://parts.subaruofpuyallup.com/a...14-860-01.html My question to you guys is: is it possible to just get in there and disconnect the GPS antenna module without majorly f'ing up my car? I don't need GPS for anything at all, and we don't have Starlink-like monitoring in Australia. I'm just concerned if I disconnect it it'll lock up the car or flash warnings or explode or something |

If anyone's looking this up in future, I just did this and it worked. Disconnecting the GPS antenna module behind the gauge cluster and resetting the headunit disables tracking, speed limit info and internal nav.
If, like me, you never use the nav and find the incorrect speed limit info annoying, disconnecting the GPS antenna (part 86277FL00A) and hitting Factory Reset on the head unit is the fix. |
