Default Rip Sti

Our trusty '08 STI appears to have expired on the road after 195k miles. I suspect it's the block as everything else in the engine bay is pretty new

Good news is we got a Crosstrek Hybrid so are not stranded, but what to do with a decent Aspen White (last/only year of the color/body combo) probably needing a new heart?

That sucks. I'm rocking an 08 with 209k miles on it. Not the original motor. I say rebuild it and get it back out there. If you decide to sell it, I know someone looking for an STI to build into a rally car

Yeah, you're right. Now that we have the hybrid for daily stuff, the rebuild into an occasional-driver is looking like a better idea, and any delays are less stressful.

Speaking of delays, the service guy hasn't returned my calls for 48 hours (I left two messages asking for more information on diagnostics/rebuilds), not sure what's up with that. They did look crazy busy when we were there.

if you want to keep it get a stock short block and get it back on the road

Pretty good run. I vote rebuild w/ stock block and keep it rolling.
