Shop?? SHOP??? You just said a 4 letter word to me! The only person that works on my subies is myself.

I had to fabricate mounts, an extension, and some unique angles to get it to fit.

Not for a beginner or the faint of heart. :-)

I feel the same, but my expertise is quite limited. That's why I'm looking for something I can do myself. I'm not much of a shop person. They want money and stuff, plus where is the fun. A bolt on would be nice, but I'm not unwilling to do a little extra work :/

I think I am going to get an Invidia DP, I think that will fit, so I just have to go from there. Someone mentioned to me that anything for the 99-04 outback should fit. Is that substantial?

A nice used wire feed welder and some materials would cost less than most exhausts.

Let that sink in for a bit. :-)

I used a Godspeed 3" Highflow DP from ebay. I know I know... but it works great... bolted right up... I did have to hack into the gusset about 2x2" with a grinder but that was 5 minutes of my time.

I used a speedy racer ebay downpipe and did not have to cut into the frame mount. That was over 3 years ago and that DP is still going strong.

A lot of great information! Thanks for all the help! Hopefully I can find one that works. Someone mentioned they thought the Invidia would fit. http://www.oakos.com/Merchant2/merch...gory_Code=3229
Has anyone tried this one that can comment?

Reporting in to share a Baja parts confirmation.

Just finished installing an ATi e-Pod dual gauge pod for my Baja Turbo's steering wheel column. Pulled it off my WRX and it fit like a glove! A few areas aren't 100%, but i'd give this a 95% score for being cross-compatible! Be prepared to pull apart the Baja dash to get the clearance needed to squeeze this in there...

Here are some fitment pics:

Next up: Gauge wiring! Too cold & wet here in TX right now to tackle it tonight lol.

I have been running the ati pod for years in my baja. Fits even better now with my full sti conversion.

STI motor fits of course. The radiator is a koyo hyper-v for an 05 STI and the fitment is perfect.

After I sourced all the materials (downpipe was already installed and bolted to the factory CBE for the trip), exhaust shop had it done in a day for $125. Think I spent about $2-300 on pipe, flanges, muffler, resonator, hangers, and a 2lb roll of stainless MIG wire, which I left with the shop because they were willing to change it out just for my job.

2.5 turbo hyped - I must know.... How difficult was it to install that STi speedometer cluster into your Baja? I assume it's not plug & play... but how bad was it to re-pin and get it working properly?

I'd love to ditch my OEM Baja speedo from the boring green/yellow scheme and get my Tach back in the center where it belongs!

Currently have a Legacy speedo on the shelf with red needles that I plan to swap in eventually, but man i'd trade it in a heartbeat for another STi cluster instead.

Took me about 30 hours deciphering wiring diagrams. Most time consuming project I have ever done on my baja.

Just curious what specific things one needs to look out for when fitting the 6-speed regarding shifter, trans mount, rear diff mounts, drive shaft, etc.
I am aware of the rear axles needing a hybrid conversion via suberdave axle races.

"Look out for"? Not sure what you mean but 6 speed swaps are well documented on the internet.

Have you tried using google?

I just purchased a 2005 Baja Turbo 5spd. I was just wondering if anyone could tell me what if any bov fits on this engine. I know they are a waste of time but I love the sound they make.

I run a TurboXS recirc valve and it sounds great...maybe a little ricey for some, but from the cabin it sounds proper under full boost.

Default Baja vf39 upgrade

Finally went to work upgrading the Baja with a couple friends. Unfortunately I did not take pictures during the work, but I took some after shots. I had already gotten the catback fabricated, and ordered a downpipe that was supposed to fit. The project was supposed to be to simply remove the intercooler, remove the turbo, and downpipe, and then strap it back together. We also decided to put a ricey intake on it just for fun.

The problems began with the inlet hose, which was completely chewed up. I was determined to geth the job doen anyways, so we bought a spectre hose adapter from a parts house and used a couple clamps, and some cutting to make it fit. (I've ordered a replacement godspeed full inlet hose to go back a replace it, but I feel like this is a vast improvement over the unmetered air that it was getting before that I didn't know about) The next problem came from the Exhaust. The CNT racing downpipe was approximately 4" longer than the stock one for whatever reason. So we Had to cut the original hangers off, and we... found a new way to hang the exhaust until I can get back to the shop tomorrow... Actually holds fantastically well, and isn't visible.. you know.. unless you look closely

On an amusing side note when we got to the turbo and removed what I assumed was a td04, it was in fact this guy.
Anyhow. We got it all done!

So.. We go to crank, and get a start and die. Can even really keep it running with fuel. Through much checking we place our bets that the AAP QUALITY intake we put on isn't sealing well with the provided gasket.
So we used some liquid gasket and made it work. Still isn't idling great, and after we cleared codes one came back. Going to check the code today, and see if it seems to be caused by the intake still. May just take the thing off, and return to stock intake. The only other problem was the thing has a catted up pipe. I guess I just assumed it didn't(new uppipe coming in Wednesday) Well, unfortunately one friend unintentionally let some coolant run down the uppipe, so once it did start we had about ten minutes of white smoke.

All seems well, and I will replace the uppipe, and take it to get it tuned, and running well this week if all goes to plan!

Update : I decided to remove the intake and go back to the stock air box. It works just fine, and seems to run much better than the rice dragon intake.

Additionally. Does anyone have a good experience with a roll up or vinyl type bed cover?
