Hopefully he comes away from this ok.

He was supposedly waiting for results of a MRI this past week so he can start practicing more.

He is in surgery for whatever injuries. Think he should retire now.

His agent released a statement saying he suffered multiple leg injuries.

Yikes, I just heard about this 15 min ago. Really hope the surgery goes well and his quality of life doesn't diminish after he heals up and goes through rehab.

2 years ago I got into a rollover accident and it was terrifying for me and my wife...and our worst injuries were only lingering effects from concussions.

I was just at the range and came back to my computer to the news. I hope he's going to be OK.

Worth millions yet how does he not have a designated driver when he's on meds? UGH!

Figured out some of the issue with my shanking. Just not bending enough at the waist. Gonna work on it a LOT this week and next and play a few execs to try and get my swing back for the Spring and Summer. Weather is pretty much Spring today, just need those longer days.

I can't help but wonder if the documentary threw him back into a funk.

I was wondering the same thing. It was more of a sleazy tabloid sent to documentary and I wasn't a fan but one would think he would have thought more about driving under the influence after the documentary.

Meh, he lived his life like a sleazy drama for many years, so it's not surprising that the documentary feels a little sleazy.

Los Angeles (CNN)Golf legend Tiger Woods' lengthy emergency surgery following his one-vehicle rollover crash required the insertion of a rod, screws and pins to stabilize his leg, according to a statement on his Twitter account.

Woods was "awake, responsive, and recovering," after the surgery at the Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, the statement said.
The 45-year-old was driving shortly after 7 a.m. PT Tuesday in Rancho Palos Verdes, near Los Angeles, when his SUV crossed a median and veered across two lanes of road before hitting a curb, hitting a tree and landing on its side in the brush.
Woods remained conscious but sustained serious leg injuries, authorities said Tuesday.
Orthopedic trauma specialists inserted a rod into his tibia to stabilize both the tibia and fibula bones, stabilized the foot and ankle bones with a combination of screws and pins and relieved pressure to the muscle and soft-tissue of his leg by surgically releasing the covering of the muscle, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Anish Mahajan said in the statement.

Having seen the damage at the crash site, Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva said it was "nothing short of a miracle" that Woods was alive.
"We have seen accidents with far less obvious (damage) that are fatalities," Villanueva told CNN's Chris Cuomo on Tuesday.

The rescue
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy Carlos Gonzalez, who responded to the crash, found a lucid Woods still strapped into his seat belt but trapped as the SUV had rolled over onto the driver's side door.
Woods didn't seem concerned with his injuries at the time, Gonzalez said. He described Woods as calm but potentially in shock.

"I do think the fact that he was wearing a seat belt and that the vehicle safety features worked as designed by the manufacturer likely resulted in either reducing his injury or saving his life," Gonzalez told Cuomo.
Los Angeles County Fire officials arrived to break him free. Woods tried to get out of the SUV himself but was unable, Chief Daryl Osby told CNN's John Berman. Woods could not stand on his own, Gonzalez said.
Firefighters used a pry bar and an ax to free the golfer, who this past weekend hosted a PGA Tour event in the area but didn't play because of a recent back surgery.
They broke the windshield with the ax and used the bar to pry the seats and metal from around Woods' legs, Osby said.
The rescue workers put Woods in a neck collar, attached leg splints and used a backboard to get him through the giant hole in the windshield to an ambulance. He went to the hospital in serious but stable condition with injuries to both legs, Osby said.

How the crash happened
The 15-time major champion was driving a Genesis SUV courtesy vehicle and is believed to have been traveling at a high rate of speed, authorities said. There were no skid marks or other indications of braking, Villanueva added.

Villanueva said that section of road is "downhill on a curve," and he and Gonzalez said the area is known as a trouble spot for speeding and accidents.
Deputies responding to Woods saw no evidence of impairment, Villanueva said, and they didn't ask hospital officials to take a blood draw, he said. A Los Angeles law enforcement source told CNN that no field sobriety test was administered because of the seriousness of Woods' injuries.
Woods was the only person in the car, the sheriff's department said.
Another car, not involved in the initial rollover incident, stopped after the crash and was rear-ended, said Los Angeles County public information officer Henry Narvaez.

Woods hosted Genesis international and was on the course the day before
Woods likely was headed for the Rolling Hills Country Club in nearby Rolling HIlls Estates for a shoot with Golf Digest and Golf TV, said Daniel Rapaport, the Tiger Woods correspondent for Golf Digest.
"He was filming his latest series with us yesterday, which will see him giving on-course instruction to a number of celebrities including Jada Pinkett Smith, Dwyane Wade and David Spade. He was due to continue filming with us today," Golf Digest's statement said.
Tuesday's scheduled filming was to include Woods with Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert, a source familiar with the shoot told CNN. ESPN reported that New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees was also to be a part of the shoot with Herbert.
CNN has reached out to the New Orleans Saints for comment but has not heard back.

Woods had a 7:30 a.m. call time, with shooting supposed to begin around 8. It was the second day of filming.
Rapaport told CNN's "Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer" that Woods was giving on-course golf lessons to celebrities but was not playing or hitting.
"He was in good spirits on Monday when he did that," Rapaport said of the shoot.
Woods had hosted the Genesis Invitational over the weekend, and was seen intermittently on Saturday and more often during Sunday's final round.
Many sports stars posted their support for Woods following news of the crash.
"Love you big brother... but We will get through this," Serena Williams wrote on Twitter.
"Barbara and I just heard about Tiger's accident, and like everyone else, we are deeply concerned," said Jack Nicklaus, a legendary golfer who has won the most majors of all time, on Twitter. "We want to offer him our heartfelt support and prayers at this difficult time. Please join us in wishing Tiger a successful surgery and all the best for a full recovery."
Sounds like he'll be lucky if he can walk normally again.

Fixed. Between this and the recurring back problems, I doubt he comes back to play any sort of professional golf. I hope he does though.

I don't see any scenario where he plays on the Champions Tour (even before this accident)

Now Phil is different...he just wants ALL of the money (like taking huge appearance fees to go to Saudi instead of playing in the Phoenix tournament where he's beloved.

Here's a super well-informed opinion piece on Tiger's injuries that were made public

I dated a girl in high school who was diabetic, she had an episode behind the wheel, and suffered a similar injury to her right leg.

She never got back to 100% after all the rehab and she was 30 years younger than Tiger when it happened.

Based on the press release, golf in any sort of paid-to-perform capacity is likely a remote possibility. The good news is he should still be flush.

Hope he gets on the mend sooner vs later and I am wrong.

Getting my swing back and had a nice range session today. I just needed more forward bend at the waist and everything improved dramatically once I got that going. The Ping G410 irons I got late last year feel super good now that I figured out what I was doing wrong. I am fired up to play an exec tomorrow and booked full 18 at Encinitas Ranch for next weekend with my brothers and cousin.

I've played a bunch of rounds at my local 6-hole Par 3 course lately. It is pretty obvious my scores depend on my putting stats. These are the last 10 rounds (some not full 6 holes) and you can see when I'm +1 for the round, my putting handicap skyrockets.

I know it is obvious putting is hugely important, but naturally I find myself ignoring it when I practice.

Sorry, this is long (TWSS)
I did a fitting. Ended up just going to Dicks for $50 since I had heard good things about the fitter guys at the bigger one near me. Hit a bunch of GI irons, mostly the new TM Sim2 and the Cobra SpeedZones (now called RADspeeds). It looks like I could benefit a -1 lie angle, and regular flex graphite shafts are the way to go in whatever I get - UST Recoil ESX 460 being the front runner.

I told the guy I likely wasn't buying from them because I can get much more for my trade-ins through GlobalGolf, and he was nice enough to let me apply my club fitting fee towards the purchase of a used PING 410 3H. It's 19* and has loft and lie adjustablity. Pretty cool of him. I got plenty of club data and a bargain on a 3H I hit really well. So at that point I had enough data to make a decision. GI irons with minimal/moderate offset, R flex graphite shafts and maybe -1 flat lie.

Because I could not decide on which set I prefered I then I started looking at the UTry options on GlobalGolf. For $50 they will send you a set of clubs for 14 days to try. If you like them, you buy them and you still have the 30 day playability guarantee. If you dont like them you send them back. Done. $50 includes the shipping back and forth and if you buy they apply the fee to the purchase. SWEET! But a -1 lie wasn't an option on a trial set, so I talked to my former golf pro buddy who said that if I buy a trial set he can adjust the lie no problem (if necessary).

So I ended up choosing to UTry a set of Cobra SpeedZones 4-PW+GW of the with R flex Recoil ESX 460 shafts. They should be here Thursday, perhaps tomorrow. I really don't need or want the 4i but it came with that by default. I am hoping maybe I can send that back if I keep them. If I can't I suppose I can de-loft the adjustable 3H to 18 or 17.5* since the 4i is 19*. While I have the trial set I plan to play a couple of rounds this weekend and next week go to a TopTracer bay and look at how they work with my former pro buddy. My club pro has said he may be able to do this too at the range, but they are going to be swamped next week with the weather getting nicer.

So yeah, I may or may not be getting new clubs, but definitely will have a set for a couple of weeks minimum.

I wouldn't worry too much about the actual lofts of your 3h vs 4i. The longer shaft and design of the hybrid will make it fly a good bit further than an iron of the same loft.

This is correct. As an example, my 4i is sitting at 20.5*. I also carry a hybrid which is set to 21*. My 4i is a 215-220 club and my hybrid is a 235-245 club.

Ah I actually didn't know that. Makes sense. I always assumed hybrid irons were a 1:1 type thing to regular irons, just easier to hit. Cool.

These clubs better get here by Thursday. I am playing Fri-Sun this weekend.
