As an example under load from 4000-7500 we aim for 10.8-11.0 on 93 octane and 11.7 to 12.0 on E85 Something is messed up if its that lean

Did another boost leak test and got the turbo inlet hose to seat better. that whole pre turbo area is golden now.
However i noticed a leak while holding around 15psi. It was what looked like the injectors. Spraying soapy water at them i got bubbles instantly and an audible hiss. Drivers side injectors were worse than passenger side, but the pass side still bubbled a bit. I haven't encountered this sort of problem before, but makes sense that it would be a contributing factor to too much air in the system. I'm going to look for new o-rings and try to fix them. They're the pink injectors. Any pro-tips to have this not happen again? Brands to avoid etc? |

I got the injectors flow tested and they weren't great, also put new seals in there. Turns out what you get from subaru, or rallysport, or napa auto are all the same seals...go cheapest IMO. No more leaks at all doing a boost pressure test. But after I was still lean on boost. Bought a new MAF and issue solved. I was using the old wrx MAF which i guess wasn't that great. No issues anymore except with Romraider. Engine is perfectly fine. 10-11 afrs on boost |

It's the ultimate iteration of the IHI Subaru turbochargers. It's quite similar to the R205's VF56, but with a few upgrades:

V9 EJ207 was just delivered today and I began the tear down to get it back in driving shape. I was disappointed to find rust in 2 of the intake valves, going to let it soak in seafoam and then vacuum out with a shop vac, what you guys think?

Take the heads off and check the bores.
Strip the valves out of the heads and check everything properly. |

RCMS sell a copy of the later cam https://rogerclarkmotorsport.co.uk/s...-kit-sti-v7-v9 buckets have no seperate shims, they are bought to size and an expensive item if you need a full set to get the correct clearances. |

Spend your money elsewhere if the OEM cams are in good condition. |

Yeah you're right might as well just do the bottom end and save up for 6 speed swap.

He is right the cams on the V8/9 207s are excellent and even in Japan you rarely see them modified outside of demo cars showing them off

Version 10 EJ207. Pump gas, 25psi FP green. Stock plugs are ILFR6A. I want to run one step colder and copper plugs.
BKR7E or LFR7A? I ran BKR7EIX on my V8 before but I see that the reach is over 7mm shorter on the BKR7 vs the LFR6/7A (which I confirmed on Amayama is the OEM plug). Perhaps Mick Dr20t can chime in. Last edited by 2JZ; 08-20-2021 at 09:22 AM. |

Anyone have a more recent emissions update than ~2018-19? USDM EJ205 ECU from 02-03 WRX still working to get through? Or refer me to RomRaider (link would be helpful) - haven't spent much time there... yet.
My v7 EJ207 developed internal issues ~2017 and the car has basically sat for the last 4 years. Currently prepping to finally tear it down and most likely rebuild with a fresh block. It has already been rebuilt. I'm leaning towards the GRB thick wall OEM built part number 10103AC510. That said, I did see some vendors (UK I believe) complaining the revised castings have a notch out of the cylinder wall. Doesn't look terrible to me - LINK. A while back it was mentioned to source a v7 block from Aus and I happen to have left some AUD there waiting for the exchange rate to regain. It never did.. This is a great thread and wish I spent significantly more time memorizing it 10 years ago. Thanks to all the contributors over the years. |
