Ej205 engine wiring harness.
Hello, just a quick question for anyone out there reading this. I was looking through my engine bay at my harness on my 2002 bugeye the other day and noticed that that harness was pretty much cut in a bunch of different spots and the boost controller plug connector was cut off and replaced with some kind of after market one which I noticed by trying to install a Cobb boost controller and noticing that what I thought was the boost controller plug didn’t fit into the Cobb connector and the boost controller that’s installed in it doesn’t look like your standard boost controller so I’m assuming whoever had the car before me installed all of this. Also my maf sensor plug was cut into and I had a pig tail soldered in.. which I don’t think is holding up to well.
So after seeing all this my thought is to just replace the engine harness. I was planning on doing this but did some research and noticed there’s one harness under the manifold and plugs into the main harness. So my question can I replace the engine bay harness without have to take out the dash wiring harness because I’m not sure if the engine bay harness and unplugs from the dash dash harness or if it’s just all connect as one. Thanks for reading I tried explain my situation and question the best I could. I’d appreciate any feedback!

You don't need to touch the dash harness to swap out the engine harness.
Pull the manifold, making sure to disconnect the electrical connectors and fuel lines, and there are a couple bolts holding the engine harness in place on the bottom of the manifold. There might be a couple plastic clips along the wiring holding it in place as well, but the whole procedure isn't too difficult. |

Thanks for the feed back but yeah I know the engine harness is pretty easy to get to and to disconnect but I was wonder about the the harness that connect to the ecu and goes around the engine bay? That’s separate from the the part of the harness that has the boost controller connector and maf plug connector right?

It will all make sense once you start disconnecting it. There's plugs by the battery, the pass side strut tower, trans, and several around the heads and block. Once all of those are disconnected, then remove you IM and the harness that you are talking about replacing will come with it. Everything else is connected separately to the dash/bulk head harness. Including the ECU.

Okay so all I need is to get the replacement for the harness that connects under the manifold and all plugs including the boost controller plug and maf plug should be connected right? That’s pretty much all I needed to know.. I was trying to research it and couldn’t really find a good diagram or any info on it. |
