How to replicate Onyx interior colour?
I have a 2012 sti.
Previously, I had decided that I was not fond of the aluminum-coloured shifter console, and AV trim, since nothing else in the interior is this colour. I opted to wrap these pieces in gloss black vinyl. That was fine in the short term, but I recently replaced my radio, and so I opted to upgrade to the JDM AV panel from the S206. The S206 trim comes in the same onyx colour as the dash, and door card trim, so there is only the one piece left wrapped in the black vinyl, and the vinyl is not holding well. I was going to try to buy the black shifter console from the S206, but it is no longer made, so my next option is to refinish the aluminum part of the shifter console that is already in the car. I was hoping I would be able to refinish it to look like the Onyx trim that is already all over the inside of the car, however I was not able to locate a thread where anyone had attempted anything like this. Does anyone know of a paintcode, or alternative application method (hydrodip etc.) that would work to match the satin-metallic "Onyx" Grey interior trim? I understand there is an Onyx metallic exterior colour, and I could try that with a satin clear coat over top, but I'd prefer to hear from someone who has tried this, or has experience in this department. Here is the S206 panel with the "onyx" side trim, just for reference:
