Cool Jan 13th Driving School Update

i have a bunch of stuff to talk about...

i have not received checks from 3 people. i sent you all emails last night so check your email if this applies to you.

we will be meeting saturday at 8:30am sharp at a restaurant/inn off of 93, exit 38. we will spend about an hour there before we all head up the school. we are on our own for breakfast, but lunch will be provided. if anyone has any special dietary needs let me know asap.
i will have specific details today or tomorrow after i talk to tim.

did anyone get a room up in that area (just curious)?
can anyone in NH volunteer their place for friday night for people coming from further away to sleep? and possibly as a meeting place sat morning.

Hey BoomerRs,
I am going on Feb. 3rd, but I thought I would ask here since you'll be going Saturday.
On the Team Oneil Site, it says the school starts at 8:30. I just want to make sure we will be meeting at 8:30, as this school Tim made an exception (modified) for NESIC.

Also, the website says the grounds are in:
"The school is taught on our facility in Dalton, New Hampshire"-from his site

All the places under local accomidations are in Franconia NH. I just was not sure if this is far away from Dalton, and wanted to make sure people were going to the correct location.

I hope I am not causing a ton of confusion. Sorry if I am,

Thanks,
Paul G. (sent my check yesterday )

we are meeting at franconia village hotel which used to be the red roof inn. i guess the info is not on their site but i should have it tonight. thats off of exit 38 on 93.
i will post directions later.
8:30am is the time.
the facility is in dalton which is a few exits up 93. about a 20 minute drive. so we will all travel their together after our morning meeting.
hope this clears things up.

Question

What time should I leave town to get to the meeting place? Maybe we should have a CT group leave together?

BoomerRS,

I'm paying direct via CC, so you don't have a check coming from me. However, I'll be there.

RuFan,
I'm probably going to be in Meriden on Friday night (crashing at a friend's condo). If you want to meet up for the drive, let me know. PM me for my cell phone number or to give me a number where I can reach you.

FYI for everyone. I have gone through www.mapblast.com to find driving times from major cities. Please see below for estimated driving times.

Hartford, CT to Franconia, NH: 3 hours, 40 minutes for 216.50 miles

Worcester, MA to Franconia, NH: 2 hours, 55 minutes for 176.00 miles

Boston, MA to Franconia, NH: 2 hours, 37 minutes for 154.60 miles

Nashua, NH to Franconia, NH: 2 hours, 4 minutes for 123.31 miles

Mancester, NH to Franconia, NH: 1 hours, 49 minutes for 105.83 miles

NOTE: These are estimated times. It should take less time barring minimal traffic and the travel times are to exit 40, not exit 38.

Please give yourself time to get their early as you don't want to be late. It's your money wasted!

If you want more accurate driving times, check out www.mapblast.com to plug in your home info.

m750, see Boomer's post.

If things fall through, I will be taking 495 North, to Route 3 North, to 93 North. Not sure where to meet up around there.

I'm planning on heading up the night before. I'm not a morning person either . I just called the Cannon Mountain View Motor Lodge (located in Fraconia) and they said two people is $65. I also called the Eastgate Motor Inn (in Littleton, not that far away, I think) and they said ~$50 for two people.

So right now I think Eastgate is the cheapest one. If anyone is interested in splitting the room with me let me know. I haven't booked anything yet so if there is more interest maybe we could get a triple or a quad or whatever.

Question

The more I look at the travel times, the more I wish I rented a hotel room. My friend can't leave town until 10pm, so that still means that We couldn't get to the hotel before 2 am. Maybe I could find a hotel on the MA/NH border, which would cut 2 hours off the morning drive. I am also suposed to meet CBLOCK here in town. What to do...What to do?

Later,
Seth

i would recommend that anyone coming from CT should not try and make the entire drive that morning. you will be sick of being in a car by the time you get there.

will anyone be bringing a digital camera?

darshu where are you? are you still coming? i dont have your deposit and have not heard from you!

I was planing on taking my digital camera. Yeah, I did the math, and that would be like 500 miles, not including the driving school, and I would be awake from 3 am to 10 pm!

did some research on lodging...

this is where we are meeting... http://www.redcoachinn.com/

east gate motor inn is $50 like jjp posted and they show a AAA logo on their site so you should be able to get a discount if you are a member. also "at your door parking" should mean you can get more than 2 people in really easily. littleton is only 10 miles from franconia btw. http://www.eastgatemotorinn.com/lobby.htm

seth i would recommend that you see if your friend can get out of work a little early and make the whole trip that night. a bunch of you can get one room and it will be cheap.

i will be staying with a friend in the area so i will meet you all sat morning at the meeting place.

hope this helps
