Blue line but don't turn until it at the point the red line is at. That's exactly the path my power steering lines go.

Does anyone know of an OEM inline fuel filter rated at 10 microns?

I emailed Bosch about it, but they said this info is confidential based on various OEM manufacturers requirements - they don't want us to know factories are using ****ty filters to provoke you spending more money on servicing injectors

I know there are a lot of aftermarket, but they are quite pricey, and given how little the car is driven it would be a waste

A lot of LS guys use a big spin on filter and housing, they're cheap and seemingly readily available. However they are pretty big.

This lists a Bosch as 8 micron. Not sure what power level they'll cope with though. IMO with filters...go big.

Earls 230608 -8orb in/out , 10 micron , 175gph - about700lph , replacement elements available, been using this series of filters for years , they have a few different ones in different flow rates , fitting sizes and micron ratings , they work and aren’t too big as to making it fit in a busy engine bay a hassle like some of the other ones I’ve found

E85freaks.com has some 6 micron ones as well and it has a cleanable stainless element

I think they are 10orb but I’ve never been able to find out how much it flows (no phone number on the site so ***** um)

I stick with the earls offerings but 6 micron would be nice

i am using a fuelab 7 micron fiberglass with e85 and it seems fine. replaced the filter media once so far over about 2 years.

i just added a 100 micron pre filter for my surge tank too.

fuelab is the aftermarket filter of my choice, as it has integrated check valve which is convenient

however I am trying to see if I can get away with some off the shelf product which is as good
the complication is that I will be running AN8 feed line, and that Bosch 0450905021 outlet is actually smaller than the inlet

I’ve used a couple fuel lab filters as well but not one with a check valve

Going to a pump that doesn’t have one internally so maybe that will be my next move

according to this the fittings needed are:

- M14x1.5 Inlet port
- M12x1.5 Outlet port.

https://www.bosch-motorsport-shop.co...l-filter~85130

So you could use these fittings to adapt to -8 AN.

N9068-08-12 (#08 MALE JIC X 12mm X 1.5 MALE METRIC PORT STRAIGHT-RING/RET)

N9068-08-14 (#08 MALE JIC X 14mm X 1.5 MALE METRIC PORT STRAIGHT-RING/RET)

https://www.new-line.com/fittings/or...th-bonded-seal

JIC and AN are functionally the same, just intended for different industries. Can mix and match AN and JIC fittings (for instance an AN hose fitting threaded onto a JIC adapter)

This is the place that is local to me but your local hydraulic shop should have no problems getting them. Can be had with or without the bonded seal but those are my preference.

How much power do you hope to make that needs AN8 ?

What fuel do you intend to use ?

How much spare capacity do you want the system to have ?

Really...if you're intending to push any AN8 line anywhere near it's limits, I doubt there is an OEM inline filter easily available anywhere than will suffice.

I won't take full advantage of AN8 with the current turbo/injectors setup, but I don't wish to create any restrictions in the flow

Then just get a good Aeromotive etc filter. Go big.

Anyone have first hand experience with the DW filters? They have 5 micron, stainless, etc...and they also have a magnet on the filter too.

Funny that this whole product line snuck up on me, as I know the guys at DW.

I haven't used them but I was curious to compare the specs to the injector dynamic stuff... which brings up the question of filter capture efficiency.

ID stuff always kinds of seems to read "we know best" but it does seem like something you'd need to really rate a filter. Sounds like bosch has specific requirements for it as well.

I got one of these on Ebay for $8...(including shipping) Fits Chevy's.
However, I've yet to find the proper adapter to AN.
I have used the Bosch 0450905021 for years on the race car, with -6 fittings. Can be had for $18 or less. I don't run that much gas through it, but I change it every third season.

To the issue of running -8AN: Some may need it, but depending on the rest of the system and how stock it is the -8 will never be the bottleneck! The stock pickup and external connector to the steel line will be the first one.

Can a magnetic filter work on rust particles?

I've used Aeromotive and Holley/Earls filters without issue.

Obviously choose suitable filter media for fuel used.

Just as I talked myself into expensive fuelab filter with check valve, turned out they don't have 10 micron version with washable SS filter element

none of the others I've looked at seem the have integrated CV feature

While the check valve may be a good thing to have, mine leaks and I'm down to zero in perhaps fifteen minutes. All it takes is having the ignition on for under three seconds and I have pressure again.

I think DW is the only ones who claim they have a stainless sub 10 micron filter.

And given the small filtration level of such a filter, I wouldn't be trying to clean one anyway. Replace.

And a check valve may be nice to have, but in no way is it essential, and makes very little difference

How about the fuelab 84831 or 84832?

I've been using a Canton Racing 25-904 (8 micron I believe) for a few years with 0 issues. It uses a -6an both in and out.

Default Fuel related question

I have old fuel in my 2006 impreza, we are talking 3 years old or more. Whats the easiest way to drain the fuel? I have read to bypass the fuel relay, but that pushes all the fuel from the tank thru the filter etc? Should I remove the tank filter and pump and replace the filter while draining the tank?

Just fill the tank with fresh fuel, install a cheap, inline filter and run it. I've put older gas than that thru efi fuel systems before.

Pull the 2 drain plugs on the bottom of the tank, that will get most of it out (easiest method). If the filter is original it should be changed by now regardless.

I deal with old fuel a lot and its a dice roll at best, for the $40 and 30min it's just stupid not to remove it.
