Time to machine the cap: 10 mins
Time to machine the logo: 12 mins

Ha!

Certainly looks pretty nifty though.

Maybe an abbreviated image of my logo, such as just the head. I'll have to investigate becoming a vendor before I make and sell parts on here though.

Made some ABS sensor delete plugs. Just an aluminum tab with a delrin plug to fill the hole left by removing the ABS sensor. I'll probably add some silicone to it too, though the OEM was just a little press fit plastic plug.

Cross posting from my 818 build thread, but I made some spacers. OOOH! Exciting! Tubes!

For those that don't follow my 818 thread but look in this forum:

I made a new dipstick handle. The dipstick tube itself was shortened 2" and the stick shortened 2" as well.

That's pretty fresh man! You should sell those bad boys. I'd buy a custom one!

I wouldn't make them in volume like that. The .025" slot took over 30 minutes to cut, and it's not quite straight. I would probably mill off 1/2 the stock and screw it on and then somehow stake the screws in.

Made some seat brackets for my 818. Black are the ones that I bought to use but the lower pieces (angle brackets) were too short front/back.

Very, very nice! I could see those becoming a very popular item. What will you be using as adjuster aka belt tensioner?

Here's a pic of it installed a few months ago with the prototype mount.

Nice work man!

I'm an MET and have been machining for the past 6 or 7 years. Very fluent in AutoCAD, SW and ProE. Also, I also work for Sheptrans as a machinist. So, as you can tell, I love what I do. Nothing better than drawing a piece out and actually producing it.

Curious as to what CNC your shop uses?

Can't wait to see more

care to show any pics? I already have a 2ftx4ft cnc router that i have tried light alu work with, but its not quite up to the task and really should have a coolant setup (my deck is wood so any coolant setup would not work out well )

I am currently building one of these with a coworker. Pretty cheap for what it can do...

What's the final cost on a 3 axis conversion? If it's cheap enough, it'd be interesting to have that at home to make some of these things available for sale. Only concern would be that the feedrates/rpm would be so low that it'd take forever and not be cost effective.

including buying the mill we have spent 2700 bucks. Stuff is more expensive here though as that is the nature of living in Canada. The mill is about 400 cheaper in the states... We also went with the full ball screw conversion to get the backlash nice and low.

This is nowhere near as nice as a proper CNC machine, but for ~2500 bucks it's hard to say no. Biggest issues I have with it is there is no automatic spindle speed (although it has a digital readout and knob so no swapping belts and things) and manual tool changes means you have to be sitting beside it the entire time. Not sure I'd want to leave it anyways but still... These are also expandable depending on how much time you have and how much you want it.... There is a guy with an auto tool changer and everything for this little mill.

There are lots of videos on youtube of people abusing these machines and they seem to hold up ok. Our plan for it was just prototyping and random things... Not necessarily looking to mass produce things... I doubt it would hold up.

But to move up to a lower end haas toolroom mill you're looking at 30k... so this is a bargain.

Used fadals can be had for 20k. Id have one if i had a shop to put it in. I was interested in cost to see if it would easily pay for itself and slowly build incremental revenue to put towards a full size machine of my own, or at least a place to put one.

I think i might have to pick up that grizzly one. and do the flashcut conversion. as i already use flashcut on my cnc router should be an easy transition.
