Hehe, thanks RS Drifter!
The V-Bands are from www.siliconeintakes.com Probably not the HIGHEST quality but definitely pretty damn good! The bolt could be of higher grade but for the price I don't think there is a comparison... Got a little welding done today, hopefully tomorrow I will finish the rear section and get it all welded up also... Here are some pics for you guys. - Martin

what shielding gas do you use? and do you any kind of I.D. purge while welding out the joints?

I use 100% Argon on all my Stainless, Mild Steel and Aluminum welding.
I actually JUST this Friday got my dual regulator so that I can back purge the things I weld. So to answer your question, no I have not been doing that as of yet. Just really careful arc/angle and heat control so that it doesn't create that rough oxidized roughness on the inside. If it ever did protrude in the I.D. I would hit it with a sanding disk real quick... I woke up super early today and felt motivated to do a little work on the exhaust. So I tacked up the rest of the system. I tried to make the entire exhaust with as mild bends as possible. So its straight as possible and best flow of coarse. Here are some pics... To Do List: 1. Finish Welding the rest of the exhaust 2. Get rid of the 10+ Year old rusty exhaust hangers and make proper stainless ones. 3. Install 4. Enjoy and make new exhaust vids for your enjoyment also... - Martin |

backing purge or not, you have made a nice exhaust setup there. but for all the effort you have invested, it would be wise to use ID purge from here on out. 15-20 CFH with a 3/32 weep hole at the other end of your workpiece would be sufficient depending on how many unwelded joints you had on the manifold.
now that you have a second regulator you also have the option of running 95/5 argon/hydrogen as a shielding gas to get better penetration at lower amperage. all in all good work and cant wait to see more. |

Your fitment is immaculate, do you use an abrasive or metal blade on the chop saw?

Looks cool! I wouldn't bother with back purging on autogenous pulse welding. The weld so cold and shallow that it is just a waste of gas really. Can you pick up from silicone intake's warehouse?

My waterjet guy is OMNICUT. In Denver. I will invest in getting what i need to back purge from now on... Here is one vid so you get an idea how it sounds now... Enjoy. - Martin |

Thank you so much for all the compliments! Most Appreciated!
I am using a Miller Syncrowave 200. I am working on replacing the magnaflow rear muffler on that last setup with a vibrant one. Will post some pictures tomorrow most likely Here is a short but fun lil clip of me messing around on my fav road with the dual side exit setup completed... - Martin |

I wish I had time and the tools to do this. I don't have enough time to even finish my own car. Great job.

Thank you very much again for the kind words everyone! I apologize for the lack of updates I have been super busy with a few other projects... However I do have a small update for you guys with some pics so I thought id share...
A little while ago my Magnaflow muffler on my rear exit setup started making weird noises so I figured it was time to retire it and try maybe a couple different options... I had a Borla muffler laying around the shop that was intended for the turbo build which is 3" in/out... So in order to make use of it I got a transition piece from 2.5 to 3" and also got the blacked out stealthy looking Vibrant muffler with a 3" in and a dual 3" out... Since the 2 mufflers have different dimensions but wanted to be able to change one to the other with the least amount of complications I had very little room to make dual tips for the Borla muffler which I was kind of set on for the final look. I usually like the look of two long tips very close to each other but i think they won't look to bad once on the car as they will be hard to see how short they actually are... Blah blah blah, anyways here are the pics of the progress. Here is the Vibrant Muffler temporarily mocked up to see how it looks... Had to weld up some hangers for the Muffler which are done now even though its incomplete in the pic... Here is the transition piece I welded together... Here I am slackin' off... Ok, Time to make some tips for the Borla Muffler. Here are all the pieces I cut for the operation... |

Tacked the Y together...
Check for good fitment... Tack the tips together... Time to lay some beads down! Finished! And another angle... Well, Let me know what ya think! That's all I got for now as I'm SUPER busy with this really cool project - SR20 Big Turbo Swapped E30 BMW. As soon as I get some time to work on my car I will post the Progress... - Martin |
