Manis are one of the few not just anyone can put together which is cool I'm waiting for the right design to come through here so I can try to replicate it lol. But at this point I'm one of those people that can't make my own.

For this, not fitted yet because the owner is a slackass.

Sandblast it the the it off with water. Try that. It has worked for me.

I'm wondering how much gain you get using velocity stacks vs none in a forced induction IM setup?

Make your own. You just need to do a few calculations and find a good welder.

Here's a nice .pdf on the subject

what difference gives "custom" intake manifold against stock one?

Depends on how you make it. You can design it to do different things really. Ultimately an intake manifold on our cars will help high rpm power. More plenum volume = more power (very over simplified). Read the links above, they are very informative.

The biggest difference is most people make a manifold that doesn't have to deal with a top mount intercooler. To over simplify, if you are an off roader that needs low end torque you make a manifold with long runners that are narrow diameter. If you are a drag racer that wants max power then short and wide diameter for high rpm horse power.

Scoobydrew thats an awesome design! Heck all of the above pics are great stuff.

Ford 1.9 liter 4 bangers have a great IM to rob the u shaped runners off of. Ive used them for quite a few applications. So next time you're at the local pick and pull go look through some fords and see what I mean. I've never paid over $10 for one. Worth it for the bends if you ask me!!! lol

Why do none of these manifolds have a wall facing the runner opening?

A face of some sort facing the mouth of the runner for the sound to resonate off of. Google Hemholtz resonance.

Example:
