I have amazing(ly bad) luck. - ECU Main Switch 2006 WRX
Man. As if I needed any more evidence that I’m a moron. You TOTALLY had said this and I caught it the first time but then wasn’t thinking about it.
Yes. 11.54v with switch depressed. (Ignition on but car not running.) With car running, 12.54-12.57v when switch is depressed. Sorry.

Hey. You know what I would cause most of the problems I’ve been having?
If some dumbass mechanic (that would be ME) had forgotten to re-attach the main negative battery lead to the transmission when he put everything (well... ALMOST everything) back together. |

Well okay, it seems that the CC switch is a momentary switch, is working correctly since it turns on the system like it should, so that part is working like it is supposed to. Something else is disengaging the system. The switch on the brake pedal for the CC system is a common problem simply due to a mis-adjustment of the switch position.
Good find on the ground wire. I assume that ground wire is for the starter mainly and it will help the starter run better at least. Missing grounds can cause numerous issues. Not having the main ground for the starter connected can cause other smaller ground wires to burn up due to the high current the starter motor requires in order to run. Make sure the rest of the grounds are in place if you haven't done that already. Last edited by Cougar4; 07-09-2020 at 02:05 PM. |

Reconnecting that ground actually seems to have solved everything, as far as I can tell. Is that something that makes sense given everything else that was happening? I’ll report back if something changes. |

Well that is great if everything is better now. Proper grounding is very important for things to work like they should. Check the smaller ground wires between the engine and chassis for signs of burn damage that may have taken place when the main ground wasn't connected up correctly.

You're welcome for the help and glad to hear things are better now. From the things you learned from this you are now able to check things out easier and better the next time you have to look for some trouble.
