What size line wrenches do I need to change the brake lines?
I am going to see my tool man later today and before I left home I forgot to check to see what size line wrenches I need to remove and install the brake lines on my 1997 L with stock brakes. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm not 100% positive, but I'm pretty sure 12mm and 14mm offset wrenches will do it (offset for clearance from the caliper when doing the bleed nipple, etc.)
If you want to play it safe, a simple 10,11,12,14,16,17 type set of offset 12pt wrenches can be had fairly cheap, even in American made/lifetime warranty trim. The set I bought just for doing my brakes has like 5 wrenches offset wrenches with incrementing sizes (so 10 sizes total) and was like $15-$20. |

I donno about the 1997 L, but the WRX needs a 9mm wrench to disconnect the hard line from the rubber brakeline.
Just a FYI. |

Sounds right, 9mm or 8mm. Sometimes that thing can get stuck too, it's a real pain in the arse after the car has a few seasons on it.
Haven't stripped one beyond use yet, but the last install I did have to use vice grips. (yikes!) |

I'm not certain about the 9mm size, as I thought it was a 10mm on the WRX, but I could be wrong. A $25 set from Sears will give you 4 wrenches with 8 sizes from 9 to 17mm. -Ray |

10mm wrench is a little too big, believe me...
