Default Broken cam sensor mount

I have a JDM Ej205 with a broken cam sensor mount. It was a clean break and took it in to have it welded back, well the guy melted it and now it doesn’t line up clean and is Not attached.

How important is this if it’s off a little? Do I need it at all if I’m running a custom tune?
Any ideas for a fix?
Possibly try to get it welded again by a professional shop?

The same thing happened on a jdm I have. I used some jb weld to sort of form a cocoon around the top and sides of it. It's ugly and far from professional, but it works. I don't think it has to be super precisely positioned.

It only failed once when I knocked it with a wrench while working on it. I've also been able to remove and reapply it a couple times when troubleshooting other issues that turned out unrelated.

As for custom tunes, I'm not sure there is a reasonable way to create a map that doesn't use the sensor, although I'm sure it's possible. I never even thought to pursue that solution when dealing with mine, so I couldn't tell you for sure.

Thanks for the idea. I’ll see what I can do. Any other input is welcome
