Default MAPerformance Stage 1+ Package for 15-18 WRX Finally Here!

2015+ WRX Stage 1+ Package

MAPerformance is proud to announce the release of our Stage 1+ package for the 15+ WRX! As some of you may be aware, MAPerformance has been providing OTS tunes developed in house for a few of our popular platforms ranging from Stage 1 tunes for stock vehicles, to vehicles equipped with our hard parts. With that being said, I can’t ignore the most common question I get on a daily basis…. “What intake works with your Stage 1 tune?” To answer that, we need to look at how an aftermarket intake can affect the calibration of both the factory tune, or an aftermarket tune.

It should be no surprise to the Subaru community that installing an aftermarket intake on these cars isn’t always as easy as bolting one on, and enjoying the immediate power increase and drivability. Since the FA20 utilize a MAF sensor for load/airmass calculations, there are a few things that can affect how the car will respond with an aftermarket intake installed. From piping size (diameter and length), to MAF placement, can all have an affect on MAF readings. This is especially the case with our MAP intake, which utilizes a full 3” mandrel bent stainless pipe. With the larger pipe diameter and MAF housing, tuning will be required. Fortunately, MAPerformance has developed a tune specifically for the use of our intake system. The MAPerformance Stage 1+ tune will be free with the purchase of the Accessport and intake from us. Already purchased the Accessport from us? No problem. The tune will also be included with the purchase of the intake separately. Before we get to the dyno plots, let’s take a look at some of the features of the intake:
  • 304 Stainless steel mandrel bent pipe
  • Stainless steel heat shield
  • 6” Cone filter by Green Filters USA
  • 6” velocity stack
  • All installation hardware included
  • Fabricated here in Minnesota!
  • Free OTS Stage 1+ tune included (91 and 93 octane available)*

*MAP’s Stage 1+ tune is to be used with the MAP intake only, and cars using the factory downpipe.

Now let’s take a look at the results below:
Car in testing is a 2016 WRX using 93 octane fuel. No other modifications except the MAP intake and tune.

With the decrease of restriction or depression (pressure loss upstream of the compressor) compared to the stock intake (piping, air box, and air filter) we saw on average a decrease in wastegate duty cycle of 5-8%, showing the turbo was working more efficiently, and producing more boost and air mass more efficiently.

Feel free to email me or PM me with any questions at all!

Thanks for reading,
-Ian

Free map with purchase of intake? or just with when you buy the accessport and intake together? Im currently running your stage 1 map but am thinking about your intake.

Correct. If you purchase our intake, I will include the Stage 1+ OTS tune for it.

Is something up with the dyno chart legend? From reading it, it looks like the stg 1+ actually makes less power than the standard stg 1 tune. Also it shows 91 octane, but you mentioned in your post the testing was done on 93.

Wow. Good catch. Those numbers are backwards as a matter of fact. Going to fix that now!

Ian,

Was the dyno chart ever corrected? The Stage 1 OTS without filter showed a max power of 267.98 with 294.87 tq using 93 octane. Per this dyno with the filter, the max power would appear to be under 250. Is this correct?

I know the chart says it was using 91 octane but per your post, it says 93, which is correct?

Basically, I am looking for a dyno chart with the stage 1+ that shows improvement over the just the stage 1 using the stock filter & 93 octane. I see that this question was already asked but I wanted to follow up.

Thanks

This was done with 91 octane, on a much hotter day than our OTS Stage 1 dyno was performed, and on a completely different car. We really aren't trying to focus on numbers. Just wanted to show the gains if you will.

Okay, do you have any data logs using the 93 octane tune with the intake? I have been around the forums awhile but just bought a 2018 WRX, so I am still in the "trying to determine" what I want phase. Feel free to PM if you would like.

Thanks
