GTWORX Bilstein dynos are posted below:
Our goal was a street friendly performance shock that can handle the firmer spring rates of our RCE Yellow and Black springs as well as the stock spring rates. Something that makes the car more fun and not something that you hate driving on over rough roads. Yes they will work well with other brand lowering springs, too. The OEM 2015+ dampers were a pretty good step forward for Subaru, much better than they were for previous generations. There are some issues, however. The OEM rear shocks for both WRX and STI are a little bit underdamped, especially at higher piston speeds and with aftermarket lowering springs. The OEM front STI struts are actually quite a bit overdamped at lower piston speeds. They're stiffer than they need to be...and not just for ride quality. Dampers that are too stiff up front can lead to understeer, which is something Subarus are already prone to doing. The stock dynos can be found in this thread: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=2640177 So with that in mind, our fronts have a smoother ramp up for our compression and rebound damping. The damping then digresses at higher piston speeds to soak up bigger bumps. The rear shocks have a curve that's similar to stock but with a little extra rebound to control higher spring rates. So instead of an overdamped front and an underdamped rear like stock, the car is more balanced. More eager to rotate, less prone to understeer on corner entry, and the front and rear of the car settle more in tune after a bump. These are not a hardcore motorsports shock. We could have made them ultra-digressive with a ton of low speed damping, the kind that look real nice on paper to some. That kind of shock can be great on the track but gives you that super quick chest jiggling bounce on roads that you thought were smooth. But our goal is balance, both in terms of the chassis as a unit and a balance between street and sport. We're really happy with the result. To put it simply, these are shocks we want on our own cars and in fact Larry in the office has been running them on his car for over a year. Daily driving, track time, autocross, road trips, all of the above. Not sure if he's taken it out on any dates...I'm guessing no. But I'll get him to jump in and comment further on the ride and handling. I can absolutely say that these shocks with RCE Yellows ride better than a fully stock STI. Let me know if you have any questions! We're happy to offer a well balanced, durable, rebuildable, and FUN performance shock for 2015+ WRX and STI. - Andrew and the RCE + GTWORX team

Inverted monotube
Rebuildable (and revalvable) Good amount of gas pressure (I can post exact psi in the morning) Ideally matched to RCE Yellow and Black springs Easily support stock springs and all aftermarket springs for 2015+ chassis

You guys should give me a set for free so I can do some proper mechanical durability testing this winter on Chicago's finest roads. As a bonus I'll do some ice racing so you can get ultra low temperature performance testing as well...
If you act fast I'll throw in some rigorous salt spray testing too. |

No need for testers. We're good.
We have a lot of very patient customers who have preordered so we consider that our group buy. At this point I'm not sure why the mystery part is a secret . I'll get Myles to spill the beans. - Andrew

the preorder price i paid was $1199 + $40 for shipping. i would be surprised if $1370 is the real price and not just subispeed adding on so they can slash it down.
i expect mine to ship today or tomorrow. I also have whiteline com-c strut tops going on as well. unfortunately i don't think ill make any of the autox events the rest of this year so i can only speak how these are for daily driving. i skipped all the coilovers at and around this price ($350 springs + $180 top hats + $1200 shocks) because of 1. unknown valving 2. insane spring rates in many cases 3. having to send some of them over the ocean to be rebuilt 4. i would have to buy camber plates for some (stock top hats/whiteline wouldn't work) or upgrade to a higher tier of coilover with crap i don't need like adjustment that might not adjust predictably (crosstalk) 5. whereas many coilovers have hit and miss reviews, these shocks for the last gen are pretty much spotless 6. these are designed for the springs that i already like and have had on the car for 2 years now |
