Default 12-15 Brake Master Cylinder Brace

One of the most beneficial and dramatic mods I have done to my 05 was a brake master cylinder brace. Took the sloppy pedal right away and I really feel the 12+ could benefit from one. Has anyone tried any of the aftermarket options out there to see if they work?

I never heard of this until now. My brakes feel fine to me. Does our master cylinder move so much to require this?

I do not know which one fits and no company can confirm, thats why I posted up.

As for its use, that spongy feeling at the beginning of travel was gone on my '05 and with hard braking it made it much more linear. Both of these I experience on my '15.

By far one of my favorite mods.

EDIT: I wonder if a '15 STI will work: http://perrinperformance.com/i-19229...5-wrx-sti.html

Someone get a helper and take some measurements.

Any slop at the master will be multiplied at the pedal due to leverage.

I talked with someone at the WBM last year and said no brake brace fits. He also said that his girlfriend had a Crosstrek and they were gonna use her vehicle as a test to design a brace for the new Impreza model.
Still don't see anything on their site.

FYI, I am 99% sure the 2015 brace will work. I am doing some testing with Perrin.

Tell us as soon as you know! !!
Definitely on my short list of parts.
I looked at the pics on their website and downloaded the installation instructions and am gonna look and see if the mounting holes and locations match.

Would this mess with my factory warranty at all?

This is probably the safest mod you could do warranty wise. It doesn't affect anything but the crappy firewall flex.

What can go wrong that Subaru would say was affected by the brace?
They can only deny fixing parts that you modified or can prove was affected by a modification.

That's what I figured since it's not so much a replacement as it is an addition.

I figured because the installation instructions pictures showed the mounting points and they looked exactly the same.
It's nice that Subaru uses a lot of the same parts on multiple vehicles so we have a lot of parts available now that the WRX and BRZ use the same engine.

Now big question???
Cusco for $102 or Perrin for $140

Either go Perrin because I'm gonna get the lightweight crank pulley or just save $40 & get the Cusco that does the same function.

I did too and love it.
I also have a full set of stainless steel brake lines sitting in my shed and probably be putting them on next weekend with a full fluid flush too.

Get them on, trust me they make it that much better! I did Stoptech SS lines, fresh DOT 3/4 fluid, and a good bleed a week after the MC brace. Fantastic driver braking feel.. worth every $$$, and time spent "get'n-r-done."

I only measured ~15 thou of deflection on the master cylinder. Not nearly enough for me to justify a $100 brace. SS lines would be a significant upgrade though.

I never measured any firewall movement prior to installing, but I truly did feel a fairly significant improvement afterwards. Even at moderate pedal pressure, it was readily apparent..

Just my .02

Thanks. I don't want to spend money on something for nothing either. To clarify, ~15 thou of deflection meaning 15 thousandth of an inch, .015"? If so, it's barely moving at all. That's less than the thickness of a paperclip.

Yeah, .015"

I butted up my calipers to the back of the MC and went in and stomped on the brakes a bit, it pushed the caliper back about that much.

I don't doubt the difference can be felt, firmer is firmer. But hose expansion would probably contribute to pedal feel even more. Just some input, not trying to say anything one way or the other.
